The opportunity

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Director of Business Transformation to join our team at Manulife Vietnam. This pivotal leadership position is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive transformation framework and roadmap, designed to enhance the efficiency, scalability, and performance of all key operations and support functions. The role is integral to driving our organizational transformation agenda, aligning with our go-to-market strategies, customer experience goals, and human-centered design (HCD) aspirations, while ensuring effective stakeholder engagement and resource mobilization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Planning & Alignment:

    • Develop and implement long- and short-term transformation plans aligned with corporate strategy and business transformation goals.
    • Prioritize transformation projects to enhance customer experience, reduce costs, and improve efficiency.
  • Leadership & Team Management:

    • Define the mission and positioning of the transformation team, ensuring clear communication across all business stakeholders.
    • Build and lead a high-performing team recognized for its specialist capabilities and impactful results.
  • Programme Management & Reporting:

    • Oversee the transformation program, managing schedule, budget, scope, quality, risks, and dependencies.
    • Ensure visibility and transparency in program delivery and financial performance.
    • Deliver comprehensive MIS/KPI reporting and establish governance frameworks for successful change management.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration:

    • Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to elicit requirements and ensure alignment with business objectives.
    • Provide direction, consultancy, and support to business leaders and project teams.
  • Continuous Improvement & Change Management:

    • Develop and implement recommendations for continuous improvements.
    • Establish a competent change management capability within the team and develop frameworks for broader organizational use.
  • Project Management:

    • Align project and program work with company strategy, ensuring governance and portfolio management for benefits realization.
    • Maintain the company’s project database and liaise with regional and functional units to monitor project progress.
    • Facilitate Project Office Steering Committee meetings and provide regular updates on project status and issues.
  • Risk Management & Compliance:

    • Manage risks associated with departmental operations, ensuring compliance with Enterprise Risk Policy and local regulations.
    • Engage with the SPMO for budget planning and management, and ensure practices are in place to manage risk exposure.

What we are looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Proven experience in a senior transformation or change management role, ideally within the financial services industry.
  • Exceptional leadership skills with high emotional intelligence and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Experience in Lean process optimization, agile methodologies, and hands-on change management.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage and influence at all levels.
  • Solid understanding of industry trends, products, and relevant regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex programs and deliver measurable results.
