TITLE: Senior Design Engineer
EMPLOYER: Airbus Americas, Inc.
LOCATION: Wichita, KS
DUTIES: Review and interpret damage reports of aircraft structures from the Maintenance Repair Organization and develop quality repair solutions. Create or modify technical documents such as: Technical Communications, Technical Dispositions, Repair Instructions, Repair Drawings within various Airbus computer-based applications with high quality and efficiency. Approve repair data to high quality standards. Liaise with Static Stress, Fatigue and Damage Tolerance (F&DT), and other appropriate Airbus departments to come up with optimum design solutions for the airline customer. Assist with preparation of various documents using AIRBUS computer-based toolsets including SAP and AirDoc. Develop and present materials for team related briefings to internal and external customers. Provide responses to complex repair queries by giving guidance as required within Airbus Operations and Customer Services in a clear and concise manner. Ensure all tasks and activities are correctly planned, monitored, and driven to achieve customer time scales. Identify and support local improvement initiatives to increase team efficiency through process, methods, and tools improvements.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field and 3 years in any job title involving experience in total design and analysis in airframe design and repair programs. Prior experience must also include: Working experience with metallic and composite airframe structural repair; working experience with repair and maintenance documentation, techniques, and procedures including Structural Repair Manuals (SRM), Non-Destructive Testing Manuals (NTM), Aircraft Maintenance Manuals (AMM) and Illustrated Parts Catalogs (IPC) ; providing responses to complex repair queries by giving guidance as required; experience with Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO); reading and interpreting engineering drawings and bill of material systems; reading, analyzing, and interpreting technical procedures and government regulations including Airworthiness Directives (AD’s), Service Bulletins (SB’s), Structural Repair Manuals (SRM), Non-Destructive Testing Manuals (NTM), Aircraft Maintenance Manuals (AMM) and Illustrated Parts Catalogs (IPC); and implementing maintenance repair shop practices, equipment, and capabilities. Up to 10% domestic and international travel required for training and business meetings. Telework permitted up to 2 days per week.
