Job purpose

Reporting to the PGMS Supply Chain Manager, the Security metal controller will be responsible for designing and implementing secure systems of work across the R&CE site. Processes will be designed to be audited and any deviations to be tracked to ensure the highest standards of security, quality and efficiency in our metal production operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  •  To witness key weighments particularly at points of ‘creation’ and ‘consumption’ of hi-risk materials (sponges and solid PGM) (including different shifts on occasional basis)Review all weighment data looking for patterns, issues, losses

  • To randomly check other operator weighments (including different shifts on occasional basis)Are responsible for any local area stock checks that can be performed periodically.

  • Are responsible for the ‘early warning’ stewardship systems of metal loss limits, yields and local area periodic stock checks

  • Will lead on the development of ‘semi-automated’ witness-weighing requiring them to be capable of setting up data logged weighment systems. Liaison with CCTV expertise in Security (contractors) will also be required

  • Will work with other staff to trial new weighment points and analyse the weighment data to see what useful information can be generated and where we should choose to insert new weighments to get the most benefit and risk reduction for the business

  • Work with Security professionals to create improved monitoring of specific areas of ‘creation’ and ‘consumption’ of hi risk materials

  • Conduct regular audits of metal production processes to ensure compliance with internal protocols.

  • Utilize Statistical Process Control (SPC) techniques to monitor and control production processes, ensuring consistent security and identifying areas for improvement.

  • Implement and maintain secure systems of work to safeguard the integrity of production processes and ensure the security of product across R&CE.

  • Contact point for one-off/trash review, so they would be trained to inspect for PGM. One-off (approving all the PGM has been removed from vessel/tank) and Trash / Maintenance Equipment (check everything leaving the building has no PGM and wipe sampled).

  • Review all open work orders and lots on production. Focus on the high value PGM. This would hopefully eliminate metal sitting and reduce WIP. Currently only done at a stocktake.

  • Audit lab areas quarterly to encourage metal to be refined, instead of waiting 3 years for a stocktake. Focus on the high value PGM.

  • Work with security to know who has access to every door/area.
