Job Description

Within the Power Solutions division in Farmington Hills, MI, BOSCH is improving the quality of life by leveraging our technology leadership and manufacturing scale to accelerate the clean energy transformation globally. BOSCH is “All in on Hydrogen”, which is a key piece of the puzzle to transform hard-to-decarbonize sectors of the economy, such as heavy-duty transportation, steel and cement production, chemical refineries, fertilizer production, rail, and marine. BOSCH is working to bring clean Hydrogen production to the North American market (and globally) together with our system integrator partners, with an initial focus on the heart of the electrolysis system, the Hydrogen Electrolyzer stack. These stationary devices produce hydrogen gas via an electro-chemical conversion of water gas and electricity, with the only exhaust byproduct being oxygen gas and heat.

As a Hydrogen PEM (Proton Exchange Membrane) Electrolyzer Stack Responsible in Charge Professional Engineer, the ideal candidate would be part of a global team responsible for designing and certifying an Electro-chemical gasketed stack to ASME Boiler Pressure Vessel Code Section 8 Div 1 and 2 plus Code Case 3078. Target is to certify each current and future design iteration, along with manufacturing site changes, to receive an ASME U-stamp, showing our product meets the industry standard for Pressure Safety. Will also be a key part of the global design and development team in Europe, finding design and certification synergies with the European CE mark according to the Pressure Equipment Directive and ISO22734.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, development, and optimization of hydrogen electrolyzer stacks, ensuring high efficiency and reliability, while achieving ASME BPVC U-stamp certification.
  • Serve as the Responsible in Charge (RIC) for all NA engineering activities related to electrolyzer stack design and performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including platform R&D, manufacturing, NA certification, and quality assurance.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, testing protocols, and compliance reports.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers and technical staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes related to hydrogen production and electrolyzer stacks.

TechnoThlogy Domains

  • PEM Electrolysis Stacks
  • Stationary applications for Hydrogen Production, incl. smaller containerized solutions and larger, customized plants

We are looking for engineers...

  • Who are driven and high functioning in ambiguous environments, defining the path forward rather than following well-defined methods and past product development and certification paths.
  • That have a team-oriented, self-directed personality and strong inter-personal and organizational skills
  • That have profound knowledge of ASME pressure vessel design and certification

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelors’ Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering
  • Registered Professional Engineer in at least one state of the United States or at least one province of Canada
  • 4 years or more of experience in the design of ASME pressure vessels
  • Ability and willingness to travel nationally and internationally as required (up to ~20%)

Preferred:

  • 10 years or more of experience in the design of ASME pressure vessels

Additional Information

Indefinite U.S. work authorized individuals only.  Future sponsorship for work authorization unavailable.

Equal Opportunity Employer, including disability / veterans.

*Please note that employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a drug screen and background check. Candidates who have been offered the position must pass both screenings before their start date
