The VP, Head of Index Sales is responsible for leading a global team of sales professionals working across multiple client segments to launch new investment products tracking Nasdaq indexes.  Focus will be on cultivating team engagement with asset managers, insurance companies, banks, exchanges, and asset owners for pipeline development of new investment product launches that drive profitable growth for the Nasdaq index business.  

The Head of Index Sales will work directly with clients as a senior representative of the business to develop a direct understanding of client needs, manage relationships through a partnership approach, and help drive new business as the leader of the sales team.

The Head of Index Sales will ensure all team members are effectively positioned for optimal client engagement from both a coverage and skills development standpoint while driving the strategic direction for how we continue building the team to support achievement of growth targets.

Role will work closely with the Head of Index Product Management and Head of New Index Product Development to influence and execute the strategic vision for how the corresponding teams collaborate on engagement with clients to drive new investment product launches.

Job Description

  • Provides leadership and direction to and through direct reporting senior managers.

  • Oversees the execution of organizational initiatives and daily operations of the business.

  • Promotes high performance through driving accountability, enhancing quality and designing processes and metrics.

  • Oversees domestic and global teams and projects, identifying risks and issues and intervening when needed.

  • Builds strong partnerships with key individuals, leaders, and stakeholders in other organizations, both domestically and globally.

  • Implements new business initiatives, products, programs, processes, etc. (e.g., process simplification and automation) that are aligned with the organizational strategy.

  • Works with senior management team to influence the strategy, recommending solutions and guiding business resources and activities as needed.

  • Implements customer-focused and process-driven performance metrics and cultures to ensure a positive business performance.

  • Drives talent and leadership development.

  • Provides strategic guidance to clients to support their individual, team and business development.

  • Reviews and oversees key areas of opportunity in the market. Approves development of large-scale sales, retention, and marketing initiatives– ultimately driving revenue and generating business with new clients as well as with existing clients.

  • Leads execution of and influences development of Nasdaq’s short- and long-term strategy, proactively working with client teams to understand and address economic or industry threats or opportunities. Presents index business sales strategy to Senior Management.

  • Introduces Nasdaq experts to client leaders, linking senior leaders with their counterparts in target accounts to enable new product development discussions and enable sales conversations.

  • Closes large, complex or strategic deals in order to meet individual/team quotas and company business objectives.

  • Conducts regular status and strategy meetings with the customer’s executive management to understand their needs and link them to the organization’s product/service strategies.

  • Systematically shares intelligence from the sales team’s client engagements to the internal Nasdaq organization to guide Nasdaq’s product development focus areas to meet client and investor needs.

  • Accountable for the Sales Teams performance and revenue results.

  • Grows the Sales Executive job family by mentoring other Sales Executives or by organizing activities for other Sales Executives to enhance their skills and experience.

  • Directs development of sales plan, quota reviews and client assignments based on product roadmap and investment product launch targets. 

  • Responsible for ensuring a safe working environment for members of staff within his/her organization, and taking necessary measures to ensure compliance with applicable work safety and work environment regulations and any applicable Nasdaq policies.

Additional Job Description

  • Education Required: Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or marketing/sales

  • Experience Required:  At least 15 years of sales management experience positioning indexes to investment product issuers or index based investment products to investors
