Zurich North America is seeking a Head of Product Enablement and Governance for our Technical Underwriting team. This leader will be responsible for product delivery and governance, driving efficiencies while ensuring compliance with state regulatory requirements. They will spearhead a comprehensive product enablement strategy across multiple divisions and lines of business, fostering a culture of compliance throughout the organization.

We are looking for an accomplished leader with extensive expertise in state filings, state filings enablement, and product compliance across all lines of insurance. The ideal candidate will have experience with all P&C lines of business and a proven track record of success in developing and executing compliance strategies that align with business objectives while mitigating risk. This role will oversee product compliance and provide best practices consulting through coordination and collaboration with various departments, including product development, underwriting, finance, operations, IT, risk, and legal, to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements. This role reports to the Chief Underwriting Officer with a preference for the individual to be based out of our Schaumburg, IL or New York, NY office.

Responsibilities Include:

Product Development

  • Collaborate with Product, underwriting, actuarial, legal and underwriting officers to ensure products meet market needs and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage and oversee the state filings process for all insurance products, ensuring timely and accurate submissions and approvals.
  • Oversee drafting and review state amendatory endorsements and state-specific endorsements to ensure compliance with state regulations.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory changes that impact product development and compliance.

Governance and Best Practices

  • Establish and maintain a robust product governance framework to ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
  • Oversee the development and maintaining of procedural manuals and guidelines for product development and state filings.
  • Provide best practices consulting to underwriting, pricing, and other relevant departments.
  • Facilitate training sessions on state regulations, compliance issues, and filing strategies.

Leadership

  • Manage and develop a team of compliance analysts.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the team.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide actionable feedback to team members.
  • Identify opportunities for professional development and growth within the team.

Stakeholder Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including underwriting business units, actuarial, marketing, legal and IT teams.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 12 or more years of experience in product development, state filings, and regulatory compliance within the insurance industry AND
  • Leadership experience
  • People management experience

  • Proven expertise in managing state filings and liaising with regulatory authorities

At Zurich, compensation for roles is influenced by a variety of factors, including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. Additional rewards may encompass short-term incentive bonuses and merit increases. We encourage candidates with salary expectations beyond the provided range to apply as they will be considered based on their experience, skills, and education. 

The compensation indicated represents a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for geographic differentials pertaining to the location where the position may be filled. The proposed salary range for this position is $197,800 - $324,000, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 35%. ​​​​​​​
