Catalyst Technologies (CT) is a market leader in the syngas value chain. It develops and supplies high-value, specialty process technology and catalysts for chemicals and fuels processing to enable our customers to operate efficiently, profitably and sustainably. The R&D Technician is responsible for assisting delivery of external CATACEL SSR Service activities, as well as internal product testing. They maintain a close coupled relationship with the Operations team that enables them to provide assistance and troubleshooting.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Conducts internal or external product and process performance testing;
    • Records performance data
    • Produces reports detailing results of test work
    • Ensures correct set up and configuration of the equipment necessary for testing activities
    • Ensures safe working practices within the test area
    • Writes Work Instructions (SOPs) for standard processes
  • Supports CATACEL SSR field service activities;
    • Supports or may lead installation and extractions of product in customer site environments
    • Performs maintenance of equipment
    • Prepares documentation for ATA Carnet records for international shipping or any other records necessary
    • Attends customer site service co-ordination meetings and site service activities in a leadership and subject matter expert role, monitoring details of installations and reports to customers, partners and internal stakeholders
    • Supports internal or on-site training of third party personnel to established Work Instructions detailing safe working practices and troubleshooting methods
    • Maintains Work Instructions (SOPs) for standard processes used internally and externally
    • Assists the technical team to develop, refine and document effective installation/extraction tools and methods
  • Supports CATACEL operations;
    • Maintains an awareness and proficiency in operation of production equipment and manufacturing methods for products
    • Troubleshoots and sets up production processes
  • Supports technical / R&D / CAPEX projects;
    • Works with in-house or external technical and manufacturing resources to research, develop, test, and implement workable technical solutions
    • Operate and maintain lab test equipment
    • Design and prepare test samples, design and operate appropriate experiments, record, interpret and report results
    • Assemble and debug prototypes and fixtures
    • Develop proposal specifications, estimate costs, create CAPEX documentation
    • Write technical reports and produce/present presentations
  • Take on any other duties which are within the employee’s skills and abilities whenever reasonably instructed

Requirements for the role:

  • Associates degree or High School Diploma with 1+ years relevant experience in technical/engineering field
  • Computer skills – MS Word, Powerpoint, Excel – Intermediate or Beginner skill level
  • Technical knowledge of tools, machinery and equipment
  • Knowledge and experience of basic shop safety
  • Data analysis – Desirable
  • Technical strength in mechanical design and assembly – Desirable
  • Knowledge and experience in chemical plant safety, especially in the oil and gas industry – Desirable
  • Experience leading others – Desirable
  • Must be able to climb stairs and ladders, work at heights >30 feet, lift up to 50 pounds and perform strenuous, sustained physical work in outdoor environments during all seasons at locations around the globe
  • Travel up to 5% of time (international & domestic – must have the ability to travel overseas)
  • Regularly required to stand and/or walk, use hand to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls
  • Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
