We’re looking for a dynamic and forward-thinking Product Manager to help shape the long-term commodity strategy and drive advanced technology planning for HP’s Consumer Notebook product portfolio. This role will be key in shaping our strategic direction in a rapidly evolving marketplace, identifying new opportunities, and driving technology initiatives that position us for long-term success.

Role Overview:

As the Product Manager for Long-Term Commodity Strategy & Advanced Technology Planning within HP’s Consumer Notebook BU, you will lead efforts to define and execute the product and technology strategy that drives the future of HP’s consumer notebooks. This role involves defining commodity spec requirement & priorities, understanding market trends, and planning for the integration of emerging technologies that will enhance our product offerings. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, industry experts, and leadership to drive innovation and ensure HP remains at the forefront of notebook innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Commodity Strategy Management:
    • Lead the development of long-term commodity strategies for key components in HP’s consumer notebook portfolio (e.g., memory, storage, display panels, batteries).
    • Collaborate with procurement and commodity core team to define requirements, strategies, optimize cost structures, and mitigate risks associated with global commodity fluctuations.
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key commodity partners and stakeholders, driving joint innovation opportunities.
    • Analyze market trends, demand forecasts, and geopolitical factors to ensure sustainable and competitive long-term commodity strategy.
  • Advanced Technology Planning:
    • Identify and assess emerging technologies (e.g., AI, next-gen displays, battery technology) that will drive the future of consumer notebooks.
    • Work with HP’s R&D, engineering, and product teams to develop a technology roadmap that integrates new innovations into the consumer notebook product line.
    • Conduct feasibility studies, prototype testing, and pilot programs to evaluate the impact of new technologies on product development timelines and cost structures.
    • Track technological advancements in the notebook space, evaluating competitor offerings, and integrating the most impactful technologies into HP’s portfolio.
    • Stay at the forefront of developments in user experience and next-gen computing trends to ensure HP delivers best-in-class products.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with HP’s System team, Product planning & execution team, Procurement, and Category team to ensure alignment of commodity strategies with product and business goals.
    • Provide regular updates to senior leadership on progress related to commodity strategies, technology advancements, and product roadmaps.
    • Lead cross-functional workshops and briefings to align on new technologies, sourcing decisions, and product development.
    • Foster collaboration between hardware, software, and services teams to deliver differentiated consumer experiences through technology integration.
  • Market & Competitive Analysis:
    • Conduct in-depth market research and competitor analysis to understand market shifts and technological advancements.
    • Provide data-driven insights and recommendations for product and technology strategies.
    • Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and technological innovations. Qualifications:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Commodity Management, Computer Science, or a related field (MBA or advanced degree preferred).
  • 10 years of experience in product management, commodity strategy, or technology planning, preferably within the consumer electronics or computing industry.
  • Strong understanding of global commodity markets, technology trends, and the consumer notebook ecosystem.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute long-term strategic plans for product and technology development.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence stakeholders across various levels.
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and navigate a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with advanced technologies in consumer electronics, such as AI, machine learning, IoT, or next-gen battery/display technology.
  • Experience in building/driving partnerships with global suppliers for innovations.
  • Familiarity with HP’s product development process and consumer notebook offerings.
