Team / division overview

The APAC Risk Team is in charge of establishing a robust risk management framework for the DWS Product Platform across risk types and businesses to ensure regulatory compliance across all its jurisdictions, to challenge and guide the business to ultimately meeting the fiduciary duty as well as safeguarding DWS and its reputation. The team defines principles and robust governance for products, including monitoring and escalation procedures, risk model maintenance and model enhancements, product’s risk profile as well as drafting & reviewing related policies and procedures.

Role Details

As a Risk Manager, you will be responsible for:

• Execution lead on DWS FE Taiwan risk strategy (official Risk Manager) covering all relevant types of risk like e.g. Investment, Non-Financial, Financial and Sustainability Risk by establishing / maintaining a robust risk management framework for DWS FE Taiwan across risk types and businesses
• Ensure that Risk Management Policies and Processes of DWS FE Taiwan are aligned with respect to the regulatory & control environment that is established
• Management of projects in line with DWS Risk’s functional requirements in close collaboration with other functions – both, within the Risk Department as well as other functions such as Investment Division, Compliance and Product Management
• Support & lead the development of governance, related systems and tools, operationalize risk limitation, measurement, monitoring and escalation processes for new products & businesses
• Support decision-making and approval processes around risk’s taken on behalf of DWS FE and on behalf of client portfolios
• Contribute the development and maintenance of other risk type-specific governance frameworks considering client-specific and regulatory requirements
• Pre- and post-trade investment check: manage & maintain the local systems i.e., Jepun to ensure the investment guidelines of local securities investment trust funds and mandate accounts are in compliance with applicable laws and regulations as well as client requirements, including the coding and updates of investment guidelines & stock pool from time to time.
• Assessments of investment targets on their profile with respect to credit quality, adherence to ESG standards as well as the impact of physical climate change and climate transition to their business model
• Develop and establish concepts & processes to integrate Sustainability/Climate/Political Factors into the Risk Management Framework across all dimensions – Corporate Risk Management as well as Investment Risk Management
• Develop the company's Sustainability Risk strategy and/or related business plan
• Valuation Risk – maintain a consistent, robust, and reliable asset valuation governance process including regular reporting

We are looking for :

• University degree, preferably with a focus on Statistics / Finance / Engineering, or similar
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience out of which two years or more of securities, futures, or trust-related work experience at a qualified institution or at least one year of work experience serving as a manager of domestic or foreign funds
• Qualified as associated person of securities investment trust and consulting enterprises / senior securities specialist / securities investment analyst in accordance with the Regulations Governing Responsible Persons and Associated Persons of Securities Investment Consulting Enterprises
• Relevant certifications like CFA or FRM are considered a plus
• Strong knowledge of financial instruments, related risk factors and analytics to create investment strategies and investment processes across asset classes and ability to identify sources of risk
• Hands on experience with local regulatory frameworks applicable to mutual funds & asset management companies
• Strong interpersonal skills as the role requires constant interaction with other individuals across the business (portfolio managers, business management, compliance) and externally (clients, regulators)
• Ability to work independently and as a strong team player
• Excellent command of English & Chinese language (reading, writing and speaking) required
