JOB SUMMARY

Summary of Main Tasks

  • Lead and manage the operation of the unit.
  • Manage and control the function of Local Settlement team
  • Ensure that operations are efficiently managed in strict compliance with local laws and regulations and in line with Group Operation Risk Policy
  • Implement IT / IS development and enhancement to meet requirement of securities operations and provide reports to management and Group Network Management / Performance Management / Planning 
  • Liaise with SeCCuRe IS to ensure that enhancements are to specification, and are tested before implementation.
  • To act as BCP coordinator and handle other related projects/tasks when required
  • Monitor and control the operation within the unit to ensure that the Bank is not place at risk when in handling  transaction and that highest standard of processing is maintained
  • Provide information for risk management report i.e. KCS, KRI , etc and also review other Securities reports for purpose of monitoring and controlling       
  • Assist other team members when required
  • Supervise and resolve all enquiries and problems to customers, relationship manager and subordinate.
  • Supervise and manage Local Settlement team to execute all activities promptly by the relevant deadlines and respond to client’s instructions and enquiries relating to Local Settlement process. 
  • Assist other team managers when required.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To support  Manager  for manage and control an operational team involved in handling Settlement functions  with a goal of:
  • Ensuring that efficient and good quality are provided to the customers to meet or exceed their expectations.
  • Ensuring that operations are strictly compliance with local laws, regulations and Group Policies

  • Achieve and maintain the Quality system in line with the unit’s Quality Policy and through continual measurement of and improvement in processes and service standards.
  • To provide the backup function within a team to ensure the smooth operations.
  • To work closely with other teams to ensure effective client service and all problematic transactions are resolved.
  • To manage and drive forward the quality process.

  • Mature and broad powers of judgement required to determine the most appropriate course of action to be adopted to protect the Bank’s interest but also to satisfy customers’ requirement.

Freedom of Decision Making Wide powers of decision making are required relative to transaction and business issues. Freedom within approved guideline for authorising and releasing transaction within approved limits. Aprroves measures required to implement established operating policy and makes recommendations when necessary to Head, Securities Services Operates with established guideline and policies. Actions are constrained by: a)    statutory requirements ,eq Banking Acts b)    Regulatory Bodies,eg  Stock Exchange , Depository c)    Group Custody Policy Guide d)    Departmental Operating Instructions Business

  • Pay attention to changing market condition and practice, give suggestion to Business units for marketing and business strategy review. 

Processes Day-to-day activities:-     (a) Control and monitor securities trade, cash, accrual transactions     (b) Control and Monitor day-to-day account activites     (c) Laise with clients and fund managers for queries on transactions     (d) Check all designated areas of operations with vigilance and care to          ensure clients receive the highest standard of quality services at all           times     (e) Provide backup function within a team to ensure smooth operations     (f) Assist immediate superiors as and when required People & Talent 

  • Ensure continuous development of the team of professionals to manage and sustain long term viability of Settlement and System Support operations 

Regulatory & Business Conduct 

  • Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct. 
  • Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
  • Lead the [Thailand / Ops CIB MKT FSS Ops / Cstd & Clrng / Local Settlement Team] to achieve the outcomes set out in the Bank’s Conduct Principles 
  • Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.
  • Local Regulator : TSD, TCH, SET, AMLO, BOT

  • Related units in Securities Services Operations i.e. Asset Servicing, FX and Payments,  Ops Support, Fund Services, Change Management, etc

Other Responsibilities

  • Embed Here for good and Group’s brand and values in Thailand / Ops CIB MKT FSS Ops Cstd&Clrng / Local Settlement.  Perform other responsibilities assigned under Group, Country, Business or Functional policies and procedures; Multiple functions (double hats)

Qualification

  • In dept Securities product, operational and general banking operations and through knowledge of 
  • operations and rules of local Securities industry.
  • In dept knowledge of risk management and sound knowledge of legal and credit control
  • Tertiary education with minimum of 1 year of banking experience including 1 year in Securities/Cash/FX related industry
  • Proven supervisory and interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to keep up and handle continuous changing market conditions and operating procedures/environments
  • Wide range of contacts among counterparty banks 
  • Understanding of the workings in a computer related work environment
