We are seeking a highly skilled and creative CMF and Soft Goods Principal Designer to join our dynamic design team. In this role, you will lead the development and implementation of CMF strategies and soft goods designs for our product lines. Your goals will include creating innovative materials palettes, developing sustainable and eco-friendly design solutions, enhancing ergonomics, promoting brand identity, and ensuring consistency across all product touchpoints. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to create visually compelling and functional designs that elevate the user experience and align with our brand vision.

You will:

  • Lead the concept, development, and implementation of CMF strategies for future products, accessories, and soft goods.
  • Conduct CMF and trend research to identify innovative materials and finishes.
  • Develop and maintain a master sample library of colors, materials and finishes.
  • Collaborate with Industrial designers, engineers, and suppliers to ensure design feasibility and manufacturability.
  • Create detailed CMF specifications and guidelines for production.
  • Manage CMF deliverable across multiple product development projects.
  • Present design concepts and strategies to stakeholders and leadership teams.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies in materials and finishes.

Essential requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Industrial Design, Textile Design, or a related field.
  • 8 + years of experience in CMF design and soft goods development.
  • Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and sustainability practices.
  • Excellent visual, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment and strong project management and organizational skills.
