Job Description and Responsibilities

The Director, Strategic Network Expansion Lead, Asia Pacific acts as the key stakeholder required to enable Visa’s global license and regulated network expansion ambitions. This role will hold accountability for defining, assessing and structuring our strategic approach to a scaled Asia Pacific license, in partnership with the strategic initiatives team and global business partners.  We are seeking an experienced Director that is ready to apply their market, operational, and strategic expertise to guide the design and implementation of market expansion activities that accelerate growth and revenue for Visa Direct.

The candidate will be a proactive self-starter who is able to take a leading role in high profile projects, collaborating with a broad range of senior stakeholders across the organisation and externally, and able to drive delivery and execution. The individual will help to drive Visa’s regulatory expansion globally, as well as partner across innovative and strategic projects that seek to diversify Visa’s core capabilities and addressable market, such as directly connecting to domestic RTP Schemes.

The successful candidate will manage a portfolio of high-profile initiatives across regulatory expansion and need to partner with global teams and external advisors to identify and mobilise delivery. The candidate will be able to think innovatively to accelerate delivery and will be expected to develop both short- and long-term strategies, while influencing leadership across the company to implement and execute.

This role will dual-report to the Head of AP Partner Network and the Head of Global Strategic Initiatives.

Key responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Lead in-market engagement, stakeholder management and prioritisation of licensing, RTP Scheme and regulatory activities.
  • Create market-specific landscape overview documents for current and future licensing markets, including Direct to RTP Scheme requirements, regulatory market considerations and operational considerations.
  • Consult on regulatory queries for licensing and Direct to Scheme, including local regulatory frameworks, fitness and probity requirements, capital requirements, license application requirements, governance arrangements, reporting requirements and completing upstream horizon scanning for key markets of interest.  
  • Support Central Bank and RTP Scheme operator engagement plans on direct-to-scheme applications.
  • Act as the liaison between the strategy team and regulatory team, noting key dependencies and providing guidance on meeting goals simultaneously.
  • Collaborate with legal teams and chosen external consultancy / external counsel firms to ensure regulatory compliance with licensing-related activities.
  • Act as a global regulatory advisor on licensing application packs, including reviews and compliance content creation for regulatory business plans, reviews of regulatory and financial crime-related policies/procedures, and other regulatory required documentation where applicable.   
  • Inform operational execution teams of identified local regulatory nuances which may require impact assessments and associated strategy plans for new or impacted operational practices required for regulatory expansion 

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • 12 years of more of relevant experience with strong understanding of the financial sector, regulatory environment, and emerging fintech trends.
  • Proven experience in a strategic delivery role within the financial services industry, focusing on collaboration with central banks, commercial banks, regulatory authorities and fintech partners.
  • Deep understanding and expertise across global regulatory, compliance and operational environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective partnerships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent project management skills, with a track record of successfully leading and delivering complex projects.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage senior-level stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with a proactive and results-oriented approach.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities
