This leadership role is responsible for driving the strategic direction, development, and execution of underwriting and business growth initiatives for commercial lines across multiple distribution channels, including Brokers, GI Agents, and IFAs. The incumbent will play a pivotal role in shaping the underwriting strategy, optimizing portfolio performance, and ensuring sustainable profitability while strengthening Allianz' market position in Singapore. 

Responsibilities: 

• Define and implement the underwriting governance framework to uphold best practices, compliance, and risk management standards.

• Provide strategic oversight on underwriting risk appraisal, pricing methodologies, and portfolio selection to drive sustainable growth and profitability.

• Lead the execution of underwriting operations, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness in risk assessment, coverage design, pricing strategies, and policy issuance.

• Ensure all policy wordings align with underwriting intent and regulatory requirements, maintaining consistency with Group and local risk appetite.

• Develop and execute commercial lines growth strategies across Brokers, GI agents, and IFA channels, ensuring alignment with the company’s financial and strategic objectives.

• Own the P&L responsibility for the commercial lines business within these channels, identifying opportunities to enhance portfolio profitability and market competitiveness.

• Establish and drive portfolio monitoring KPIs, ensuring data-driven decision-making and proactive management of underwriting performance.

• Lead deep-dive analysis on product and distribution channel performance, implementing corrective actions to optimize portfolio health and risk exposure.

• Drive innovation in product offerings, underwriting efficiencies, and channel partnerships to expand market reach and enhance customer value propositions.

• Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of Technical Underwriters and Business Development Managers, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

• Serve as a key underwriting and product authority, ensuring Allianz maintains a competitive edge in commercial lines product offerings and policy structures.

• Drive customer-centric product innovation, collaborating with product development, marketing, and distribution teams to refine product propositions.

• Take ownership of policy wording accuracy and integrity, ensuring clear articulation of underwriting intent and alignment with regulatory standards.

Requirements:

• 12+ years of experience in the P&C industry with brokers, agency and FA business

• Local technical underwriting knowledge on commercial P&C market in Singapore required

• CGI or PGI and BCP qualified

• Commercial Property and Marine Cargo & Liability underwriting experience preferred

• Strong leadership and people management skills

• Strong business development capabilities

• Thorough technical understanding of clauses, policy wordings, underwriting philosophies and pricing mechanisms.
