Job role

Our global Predictive Analytics team is seeking an experienced Data Engineer for a role within the Pricing Function. In this role, you will work closely with the Data Engineering Manager and other key stakeholders to interrogate data and implement Pipelines across the various LOBs and regions in Allianz Commercial to support advanced predictive analytics. We are looking for someone who is willing to get hands on with the company’s data and to develop innovative and structured solutions to bring it together in a way that maximizes its potential. This person will need to collaborate internationally with various stakeholders, both within the Pricing Function and across other Allianz Commercial functions.

The Predictive Analytics team is part of the Global Pricing department at Allianz Commercial and is responsible for driving the use of Predictive Analytics within Pricing across Allianz Commercial globally. You will join an international department located across London, Munich, Bucharest, Chicago and New York.

What you will do

  • Working within the business to design and implement robust and scalable data pipelines to enhance the capabilities of the Pricing function
  • Develop an expert knowledge of the company’s IT landscape, data and data systemsWork to bring data from different internal and external data systems into a centralized data lake
  • Develop new data ingestion processes within our Cloud based platform to ensure that data can be properly leveraged in the future
  • Optimize fuzzy merge processes between data systems where primary identifiers are missing to release intrinsic value of data
  • Collaborate with Data Engineers and Predictive Modellers to deliver innovative data solutions
  • Act as an expert to support the wider Pricing team on data processing and coding best practices
  • Support the development of reporting dashboard and application development where necessary

What you bring

  • Minimum of five years’ experience working in a Data focused role, ideally in a P&C environment
  • A degree at BSc or MSc level in a Numerical field, preferably with a strong focus on Computer Science or Data Engineering, or qualified by experience
  • Experience in data pipeline/ETL development, cleaning and bringing together multiple sources into a single productionised warehouse
  • Strong knowledge of P&C insurance, ideally with some experience of working alongside Pricing teams
  • Relishes problem solving, analysis and getting hands on digging into data issues

You have

  • Significant experience in SQL
  • Understanding of source control methodologies (GIT experience preferable)
  • Understanding of relational database and data warehouse methodologies
  • Experience using one or more RDBMS tools (e.g SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle) Data visualization and interpretation
  • Some experience with Python or RExperience developing with Apache Spark
  • Experience using cloud based solutions (e.g AWS, Azure, GCP, Snowflake)
  • Knowledge of the Palantir Foundry platform
  • Some understanding of Machine Learning and predictive modelling techniques
  • Experience with JavaScript or CSS
  • Independent and self-directed individuals that thrive when faced with challenge
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with technical and non-technical team members
  • Desire and ability to learn the business and become an expert in the industry
  • Organized, self-motivated, results-oriented, and very resourceful
  • Experience in an international working environment. Experience of working with colleagues located in different countries an advantage.
