Job role
The Data Governance Manager is responsible for implementing and managing data governance processes and ensuring that the organization’s data assets are accurate, consistent, secure, and used in compliance with internal policies and external regulations. This role involves close collaboration with data owners, data custodians, IT teams, and business users to define and enforce data management standards, policies, and practices.
Executes the data governance process within the respective domain. Is an expert who understands and communicates the meaning and use of information in a given data domain. Is responsible for aligning with data stewards across the organization as the sub governing body for most data decision and issue resolutions. Has for objective the creation and alignment of data standards and definitions to facilitate and maintain a consistent use of data across the organization.

What you will do
1. Data Governance:
- Work closely with the data governance team to implement data governance frameworks, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure that data-related activities align with the organization’s policies and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and maintain data management standards and documentation, such as data dictionaries and metadata repositories.
2. Data Quality Management:
- Monitor, measure, and improve data quality across all business units.
- Establish and enforce processes for data validation, cleansing, and standardization.
- Identify and resolve data quality issues, working with relevant stakeholders to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
3. Data Lifecycle Management:
- Oversee the lifecycle of data from creation and acquisition through to archiving and disposal.
- Ensure that data is properly classified and stored according to retention policies and legal requirements.
4. Collaboration with Stakeholders:
- Act as a liaison between IT and business teams to ensure that data is properly used, managed, and interpreted.
- Facilitate communication between data owners, data custodians, and data consumers to establish clear data governance responsibilities.
- Provide support and training to users regarding data management policies, processes, and tools.
5. Data Security and Privacy:
- Ensure that data is protected according to company standards and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with the IT and security teams to define and enforce data access controls and permissions.
- Monitor and address data privacy issues, ensuring compliance with privacy laws such as GDPR, CCPA, etc.
6. Metadata and Master Data Management:
- Manage and maintain metadata and master data to provide a single source of truth for key business data.
- Ensure that data definitions, formats, and usage are consistent across systems and business units.
7. Issue Resolution and Data Support:
- Act as the point of contact for data-related issues and troubleshooting.
- Address and resolve issues related to data inconsistency, duplication, or inaccuracy.
8. Reporting and Analysis:
- Monitor data usage and create reports to track data quality, compliance, and usage metrics.
- Provide insights on data usage and trends to support business decision-making.
What you bring:

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to explain complex data concepts in simple terms to business users.
- Experience in working across departments to build consensus on data standards and practices.
Project Management:
- Experience in managing data governance or data quality improvement projects.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in a data governance, data stewardship, or data management role.
- Familiarity with data governance tools (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, IBM InfoSphere) is a plus.
- Understanding of cloud data environments and data architecture.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, business, or a related field.
