DB Global Technology is Deutsche Bank’s technology centre in Central and Eastern Europe. Role Intro

Our Technology, Data and Innovation (TDI) strategy is focused on strengthening engineering expertise, introducing an agile delivery model, as well as modernizing the bank's IT infrastructure.  We continue to invest and build a team of visionary tech talent, providing you with the training, freedom and opportunity to do pioneering work.  As an Support Engineer you will support Enterprise Data Services (EDS) Prod environment to satisfy complex and diverse business goals.  You will engage and partner with the business whilst working within a broader creative, collaborative and innovative team, with a strong desire to make an impact.

You will work as part of a Prod Engineering team. You will bring an innovative approach to application/infra support, focusing on using the latest technologies and practices, as part of a relentless focus on business value. You will be someone who sees support function as team activity, with a predisposition to debug issues and creating a supportive, collaborative environment. You will be ready to contribute to all stages of support, from initial analysis right through to permanent fix.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Software Engineer with strong expertise in Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) domain focusing on optimizing existing large-scale, distributed systems and eliminating TOIL through automation and software optimization.

The candidate will have the opportunity to manage complex challenges of software engineering. With your technical expertise, you will participate in design, development and testing software solutions that will ensure that our systems have reliability, observability, performance and uptime appropriate to customer’s need.

  • Writing system development code
  • Supporting services before Go-Live through activities such as design consulting, developing software and frameworks for resiliency, defining observability for SLO/SLIs and capacity planning.
  • Triaging with stakeholders for sustainable incident response and blameless postmortems
  • Building tooling to support the application in Production, detection of issues, communication to stakeholders focusing on high-quality customer outcomes

Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or a related field
  • 6 - 8 years of industry experience in IT
  • 2 - 3 years of experience in Site Reliability Experience (SRE)
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented software design patterns
  • Experience with design and building Micro Services systems
  • Experience with Software Development using Java (11 & above), Spring Framework and related technologies
  • Hands-on in SQL and PL/SQL programming
  • Experience in Test Driven Development and Behavior Driven Development
  • Strong scripting skills (e.g. Bash, Python)
  • Experience with CI/CD tool – Bitbucket, Jenkins/GitHub Actions, Maven/Gradle, uDeploy
  • Experience with using service monitoring and logging tools (e.g. Splunk, ELK, Grafana, Geneos)
  • High emotional quotient and respect for diverse opinions

Good to have

  • Experience with Cloud deployment and design (e.g. Google Cloud). IaaS using Terraform
  • Knowledge of Docker and deployment platforms like Kubernetes (or OpenShift Container Platform)
  • Knowledge of the Incident, Problem and Change Management processes within the ITSM framework.
  • Knowledge of using Service Management tools (e.g. ServiceNow etc.)
  • ITIL V3 Foundation certified
  • Exposure to BFSI domain/IB Captive setup
