The Mission

The role of the Business Intelligence Engineer is to build dashboards and reports based on the requirements of strategic and regulatory initiatives within the Non-Financial Risk and Compliance area.

Your day to day

Even if you’ll start your day from the comfort of your home or drink your morning coffee in our office’s garden, your day will be quite similar when comes to tasks. Here are your daily responsibilities:

  • Responsible for building high performant models, reports and dashboards in the BI Platform Cognos Analytics within ING Group Services
  • Understand business requirements to make sure that the reports and dashboards are fulfilling the stakeholders’ needs
  • Using Agile SCRUM principles to deliver, maintain and extend the data analytics & reporting platform
  • Proactive in formulating and managing processes and standards, as we are working in a global context, for a global BI Platform
  • Proactive in identifying potential risks and issues, which will cause deviations from global standards and impact the performance of the reports
  • Up to date with the latest industry standards and trends in the area of Data Management and Business Intelligence
  • Report on the progress and communicate the dependencies and impediments

What you’ll bring to the team

Experience:

  • Developing and maintaining Data Warehouse, Data Marts and ETL procedures through Oracle PL/SQL procedures and packages.
  • Collect requirements from business users and implement them in Data Mart models
  • Incidents solving
  • Quality control by creating test cases to ensure that changes are successfully deployed in the DTAP stream
  • Implementing changes via AzureDevOps pipelines in DTAP stream
  • Very good SQL knowledge and experience with Oracle databases is a must
  • Good background knowledge of modelling and ETL Tooling so that you can understand the whole context
  • Experience with pair programming
  • Strong technical background on data and reporting
  • Agile – Scrum methodology experience
  • In Banking industry is considered a plus

Tech stack/ knowledge:

  • Mandatory: IBM Cognos Analytics and Power BI, Oracle database, Data Lake and Big Data concepts, database concepts, data modelling, database design, data analysis, reporting and performance tunning
  • Nice to have: Python, ETL

Soft skills:

  • You have strong communication, presentation, networking and influencing skills.
  • You are a self-starter with a good ability to learn new content quickly and transfer it.
  • Consulting mindset including an ability to think about Data Management in a way that is abstracted from how business functions currently operate.
  • You share and adhere to the ING values of honesty, prudence and responsibility.
  • You actively seek help and feedback but are also not afraid to give feedback.
  • You are comfortable to work in an ever-changing environment and can inspire others to apply problem solving solutions when dealing with challenges.

Foreign languages: English (advanced)

Education: Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in an IT related field
