CTO – Chief Technology Office
Technology Office is the division exercising oversight and control of our technology business. It covers key areas of compute, storage, data bases, networks, and data centres globally, as well as Group Architecture. Our area is pivotal in accelerating the delivery of a bank-wide simplified target architecture - increasing agility and technology speed-to-market while lowering costs. Group Architecture achieves this through a range of activities, including the delivery of target architectures and roadmaps, governance frameworks, strategic tools, design discipline, policies and standards, and rationalising our IT landscape
Role Description
The Data Architecture team with Group Architecture is responsible for delivering enterprise wide data architecture standards, tools and change initiatives, executing in-line with the Bank’s data strategy.
Your role will be part of a team defining steps to advance and accelerate progress towards our target Data Architecture and in meeting new regulatory requirements. This includes foundational aspects required to enable the target architecture and real-world functional challenges that impede progress and/or benefit realisation for moving to the target architecture. The role covers analysis/investigation (current state, problem statement, stakeholder inputs), defining and documenting the approach (management friendly overviews and more detailed requirements where appropriate) and agreeing the approach with stakeholders within the Chief Technology Office and in business aligned IT Domains. It also involves hands-on collaboration with other teams on critical deliveries/pilots to prove out approaches and to aid federation with IT Domain teams to allow us to incrementally progress and achieve tangible outcomes as we do so. This work would be carried out with close guidance from senior Architects within Group Architecture.
Initial areas of focus revolve around our Public Cloud adoption, in particular approaches to meet regulatory restrictions around data sovereignty in an efficient manner, enabling appropriate hybrid solutions and ongoing compliance to regulations. This is a great opportunity to get involved into helping shape how we progress our journey in this critical area.
Key Responsibilities:

·Current state analysis via collaboration with stakeholders and investigating available assets/data
·Define recommended approaches to resolve challenges to enable progress to target state data architecture
·Liaise with architects in Group Architecture and in other IT domains to agree and align approaches
·Estimating/quantifying the impact of architectural issues and/or benefits that can be achieved from resolving them to make the business case for change
·Break down potential steps for multi-stage journeys towards the target state data architecture
·Create senior management friendly documentation on the challenges, implications, and recommended approach
·Detailed analysis for important foundational capabilities, pilots and PoCs as prioritised by the head of Data Architecture:
·Document functional requirements to feed into delivery/product backlogs for key capabilities
·Work with delivery teams to break down steps allowing incremental progress and interim tangible outcomes
·Analyse level of conformance of solution design to defined data principles & patterns and to reuse of shared enterprise assets where possible
·Participation as an embedded Data Architecture representative in delivery sprint processes and regular stand-ups for critical topics
·Work with architects and process owners in Group Architecture to enhance architectural governance and review processes for continuous driving towards target state data architecture
