JOB DETAILS/ROLE PURPOSE
The person will be responsible for a variety of tasks with primary focus on: Providing legal support to the Medical Provider Management team by reviewing contracts with medical providers third-party providers, periodically updating of contract templates and documenting standard clauses and variations.
The person will report to the Manager in Finance Services and take directions from a Manager in the GlobaI Office Legal team. This is a global role, supporting the Europe, US, WELAM, Africa and APAC regions for Legal function-related tasks.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support negotiations and conduct legal reviews of amendments requested by medical providers to standard contract templates;
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to conduct legal reviews of non-standard agreements, including but not limited to direct settlement agreements, third-party agreements, Data Processing Agreements, Non-Disclosure Agreements, ensuring alignment with company processes, Group policies and regulatory requirements, including mandatory clauses;
• Participate in meetings with medical / third party providers to negotiate and review contracts, addressing points of pushback and providing legal guidance to ensure alignment with company policies and objectives;
• Draft and update risk assessments at the final stage of contract negotiation, documenting deviations from standard terms and highlighting potential risks and recommending mitigating strategies;
• Update contracts and templates as needed to reflect changes in legal requirements, regulations, or company policies ensuring compliance with applicable laws and standards;
• Support the Medical Provider Management team in negotiating legal clauses with medical providers;
• Provide guidance and support to the Medical Provider Management team on contract interpretation and alternative solutions;
• Maintain a record of agreements under review, tracking deliverables and deadlines and maintain and update reports / trackers;
• Maintain a record of standard clauses and agreed variations, identifying risks and areas for improvement;
• Manage a list of updates required for standard templates and conduct periodic reviews and updating of templates in consultation with key stakeholders;
• Update and maintain the legal review process document to reflect current practices, workflows, and regulatory requirements;
• Assist in the development of contract management processes.
PROFILE KEY REQUIREMENTS
• Qualified as a lawyer in a European Union jurisdiction;
• At least 2 years of post-qualification experience in-house or in legal practice as a Contracts Lawyer;
• Ability to take initiative and deliver quality results, often under competing deadlines.
• Ability to perform effectively under pressure, managing multiple tasks and maintaining high standards in a dynamic, fast-paced environment;
• Ability to work independently and autonomously yet still displaying strong teamwork ethics and attributes.
• Strong interpersonal skills with ability to collaborate effectively, manage and build positive relationships with individuals, both internal and external.
• Advanced verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain rationale clearly, and a strong attention to detail is essential.
• Ability to prioritise tasks and meet set deadlines.
• Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Teams with a strong affinity for and flexibility in using various digital tools and programs.
• This is a global role, requiring the candidate to support the Americas, APAC, Africa and Europe regions, which will require effective management of time zones.
• All work will be conducted in English and a high level of verbal and written communication skills in English is mandatory.
• Additional Language: Portuguese or Spanish mandatory. Any other language an advantage.
