Key Responsibilities
Proactively support and challenge our Private Banking businesses and support functions to exhibit appropriate conduct and comply with our regulatory and compliance requirements and strive to achieve fair outcome for the Bank’s clients.
Build and maintain an effective and constructive relationship with all key business and functional stakeholders that is based on trust, capability and integrity, providing timely, responsive and quality regulatory compliance advice and guidance to enable the business and functions to meet/ achieve their strategic tactical objectives.
Provide support and challenge to the Bank’s senior management to ensure that they establish and monitor appropriate processes for compliance with compliance policies and standards (including meeting regulatory obligations and maintaining high standards of conduct).
Advise Private Banking business team on any CDD, AML/CFT related matters (e.g. CDD documentation matters, assessment of Group and CPBB segment prohibitions and review of adverse news/PEP nexus/sanctions nexus and consults other control function where relevant).
Review escalations received from the Private Banking team and other stakeholders in relation to red flags identified, and submit an internal escalation to Financial Crime Intelligence Office (“FCIO”) team where required.
Manage onboarding and periodic reviews – Holistic risk assessment of the client and consults and consolidate other control function prior to providing a “no objection” to the onboarding / Periodic Review (e.g. review all “D” and “E” clients at the point of on-boarding, and all “D” and “E” clients with incremental risk identified).
Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
Work to achieve the outcomes set out in the Bank’s Conduct Principles: Fair Outcomes for Clients; Financial Crime Prevention; Creating the Right Environment.
Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.
Skills and Experience
Compliance professional of at least 5-8 years standing with specific focus on CFCC CDD/ AML Advisory for Wealth and Retail Banking business.
Well-verse in the understanding of regulations impacting Wealth and Retail Banking, and other like guidance / circulars.
Good judgment enabling the provision of sound advice in difficult areas of regulation and practice and the proactive management of compliance and regulatory risk.
Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and multi-cultural awareness and sensitivity.
Sound judgement on business practices, regulatory relationship management and reputational risk.
Be able to operate independently and demonstrate robustness in ethics and resilience.
A team player and has the right aptitude to work with different stakeholders and committed to meet deadlines.
Chinese (Mandarin/Cantonese) or Arabic is a nice to have.
