Assistant Manager, Reinsurance 

The Opportunity

We are currently searching for a talented and driven individual to join our Reinsurance team within our MBPS Actuarial Function. The role is responsible for leading a team of reinsurance professionals handling policy maintenance related to policy changes, death claim reimbursement, billing, email inquiries, and Treaty block ownership for reinsured policies. In addition, this role will support data and reporting needs of Canada team. This role will be on a night shift.

We are looking for someone with: 

  • At least 4 years’ experience in Reinsurance operations or similar functions 

  • Demonstrated experience in managing and leading teams or different stakeholders 

  • Knowledge in VBA, SQL and Reinsurance Systems is a must 

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail with ability to analyze complex data sets and make data-driven decisions 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with internal stakeholder and effectively communicate complex information to a variety of audiences 

On the job you will:  

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the Reinsurance team, ensuring that processes are efficient and effective and that the team meets its goals and targets 

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including internal and external partners, to ensure effective communication and collaboration 

  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators to identify areas for process improvement and implement appropriate changes 

  • Provide training and development opportunities for team members to ensure ongoing growth and development 

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in reinsurance operations and act as a resource for other departments and business units 

  • Identify and manage risks, taking proactive steps to mitigate potential issues before they become problems. 

  • Support the multiple projects within Reinsurance Operations which revolves around system upgrades, audit, and process enhancements 

  • Develop and track key performance metrics including productivity, quality and timeliness and take corrective action when necessary to improve performance 

  • Conduct regular performance evaluations of team members 

  • Serve as a designated resource to manage all incoming/outgoing reports which includes creating new SQL queries, automating where possible and ensuring all reports are produced on schedule.
