Job Overview
The Chief Operations Officer (COO) domain builds bridges within ING linking to almost every part of the bank. Its purpose is to drive secure, efficient processes for our customers and colleagues.
ING wants to set up a bank-wide COO organization that's ready for the future, with scalable, seamless, digital, and resilient operations. To help us achieve this, COO identified three main ways to make the most impact:
Global COO Finance is an independent unit within ING’s COO domain, reporting hierarchically into ING’s Chief Financial Officer and functionally into ING’s Chief Operations Officer.
Global COO Finance (COOF) is accountable for designing the global finance operations and technology strategy (together with ING’s TECH organization) and optimizing productivity and customer satisfaction in Operations to improve operational efficiency. It is accountable for executing ING Finance and COO strategy to evolve towards one global digital bank, is responsible for performance of Operations, the operating model, decisions on sourcing and all relevant regulatory and Risk topics.
Your job is to lead the squad with a related purpose to develop, implement and/or maintain products and services. You have an end-to-end strategic focus around your services and leads your squads in terms of clear prioritization, accountability and capabilities. The Product Lead is a position where all elements of a product come together, the what and the how, with an end-to-end transformation responsibility. You work not only on delivery and on how we run a product, but also on creating a vision on how we improve our services, how we manage the business value and how we increase collaboration across functions.
You are responsible for the execution of all activities of your organisation in Netherlands, ING Hubs and with our SSI partners in India, including risk & control activities to remain in control of risks and keeping the bank safe. You do that by steering squads who work on a specific service by providing them with a strategic direction, by coaching them on the job, defining the product roadmap and by managing stakeholders. The people who work in the squads report to you, which means it is your job to empower them to thrive and perform at their best. You set direction, you help them to develop their craftsmanship and you have continuous conversations about their career development. As a Product Lead you report hierarchically to the Tribe Lead Financial Accounting.
The Financial Accounting Tribe focuses on delivery of all change initiatives impacting systems (eg PAR, BEST, AAH, FPL) services. Besides, the tribe is responsible for operating and maintaining these applications. The squads within the tribe are grouped into six (6) introduced products:

Leadership and Direction - Communicate the actions needed to implement the COOF strategy for your Product; explain the relationship to the broader organization's mission, vision and values; motivate people to commit to these and to doing extraordinary things to achieve local business goals.
Risk Management - Take ownership on risk management and follow the appropriate procedures to assess and mitigate financial risk and non-financial risk while operating business processes, in order to protect the organization from undue risks.
Business planning – Contribute to the development of annual business plans for a your department, ensuring alignment with strategy. Propose business targets and schedule key activities/projects to deliver performance targets.
Data driven products and Service improvements - Develop data-driven analyses to surface new opportunities to differentiate and improve products and user experiences, ensuring consistency across products and services.
Horizon scanning - Explore and develop a detailed understanding of external developments or emerging issues and contribute to the evaluation of their potential impact on, or usefulness to, the organization.
Organisational capability building - Identify the team's individual development needs. Plan and implement actions, including continuing professional development to build their professional capabilities. Coach and mentor the people in your line of responsibility to support the development of the COOF talent pool.
Policies and procedures development - Help develop procedures for an area of the organization, and monitor their implementation.
Regulatory and Compliance Management - Help design and implement regulatory and compliance standards in your scope of responsibility.
Solutions Analysis - Identify and evaluate complex, expertise-led solutions against a range of criteria to find the ones that best meet business needs.
Stakeholder Engagement - Identify and manage stakeholders, finding out their needs/issues/concerns and reacting to these to support the communication of business information and decisions.
Strategy Implementation - Develop tactical plans for optimizing resources and assets being managed within your department.
Key Capabilities/Experience & Minimum Qualifications
You have a proven track record and the following technical and behavioral skills:
You hold a Masters Degree (University / Postgraduate) and have ~10 years of experience in area of expertise and relevant experience of planning and managing resources to deliver predetermined objectives (~5 years).
Acting as the organization’s authority in the following technical skill areas:
identifying the solution scope, potential value of the future state, and the changes to the process, products, organization infrastructure, capabilities, and technology necessary to achieve the desired future state.
