Job Summary:

The Financial Control Shared Services team is responsible for monitoring account activity for operational transactions which have a financial impact. Reconciliation of account activity is routinely performed to ensure accuracy and help troubleshoot any issues. This team collaborates with Operations, Finance, Audit, and IT.

The Control Analyst is responsible for a broad range of responsibilities that include, but are not limited to risk mediation, reporting, process enhancement, procedure administration, project management, and administration for Operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Accounting, reconciliation, and auditing function on various JH Life, LTC, and Annuity accounts
• Analysis and investigation to resolve outstanding variances or issues.
• Maintain traceability of research and provide detailed monthly analysis of outstanding balances.
• Ensure suspense balances are maintained within corporate standards for each account.
• Work with various staff in operation areas to identify discrepancies and clear items in a timely manner.
• Preparation of journal entries as needed to resolve discrepancies.
• Escalation of any variances and open items in suspense accounts and other reconciliation tasks
• Perform reconciliations based on required frequency.
• Maintain procedures and documentation as directed.
• Ad-hoc projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

Essential:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent work experience
• Minimum of 2 -3 years’ experience in financial or general accounting field or otherwise relevant business operations experience
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Attention to detail and accuracy are critical in completing tasks.
• Ability to prioritize and work effectively in a deadline-oriented environment.
• Ability to effectively communicate and manage expectations and shifting priorities.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze and solve complex transactions/situations.

Additional Assets:

• Strong PC skills with intermediate to advanced knowledge in Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot, VLook up);
• Familiar with PowerBI, Alteryx, Infor, Smartview
• Ability to learn new technologies and tools quickly.
• Work effectively in a changing environment.
• Comprehensive knowledge in life insurance is a plus.
• CPA is a plus but not required.
