Balance Sheet Substantiation (BSS) is a key pillar of DB’s SOX compliance efforts, and the role will drive the effective implementation of this control process. The role will handle the implementation, administration, and governance of the balance sheet substantiation control globally.
SOx, as a key regulatory requirement, is the Bank’s main framework in detecting financial reporting risk. This role is mainly responsible in supporting the effective implementation of the SOx framework across DB through key controls administration, operating and design effectiveness review results reporting and analysis and drives overall assessment across risk areas such as Audit, SIF and Risk Incidents.

Your key responsibilities
- Perform BSS Account Ownership assignments across DB business
- Provide support on monitoring, remediation and escalation for ownership disputes, uncertified and unassigned accounts
- Provide support on Account Ownership clean up of disputes and agreed account assignments with CFO
- Drive the BSS effort for the region, coordinating with country/division Finance Directors to determine emerging issues (i.e., unsubstantiated balances, Potential Financial Exposures) and monitor resolution. Ensures integrity of balance sheets through substantiation, reconciliation and back/review testing)
- Perform quality assessments and backtesting of the BSS results, and connect the data points with other control metrics. Improves the understanding and increase accountability among account owners through updates and enhancements to the BSS training framework (e.g., online courses, classroom training).
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert on BSS, accounting, and audit concepts and principles. Shall be responsible in the review and administration of SOx relevant controls relevant to BSS through coordination with FCO partners and Stakeholders to ensure accurate and completeness of controls documentation in the system.
Your skills and experience
- Bachelor's Degree in either Math, Finance, Economics, Accountancy or Business
- Experience in balance sheet substantiation coming from banking and financial services is an advantage
- Knowledge on markets business, risk and regulatory is beneficial
- You will need to be solution oriented and process focused, and also possess a high level of professionalism, integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency. Additionally, you will also need to highly organized, structured and detail oriented.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly in Excel
