Job Description

Philips challenges you to use your Mechanical engineering expertise to model, design & implement, integrate & test some of the world’s most innovative healthcare products and manufacturing systems, within the Product and System Engineering department.

The ideal candidate brings significant experience in conceptualizing, designing and engineering (mechatronic) test-/manufacturing equipment (preferably in Medical/Healthcare domain) as well as leading technical design teams working on such complex high-tech (sub)systems.

This expertise needs to be applied in an environment with a variety of customers and projects, and where system thinking combined with a proactive attitude are vital for success. Your contributions can range from early customer contacts, project definition and concept creation all the way to detailed (new) equipment designs or solutions that enable scale-up and volume production.

Your role:

  • The architecture and solution of a complete production line or (automated) test equipment; understands and communicates consequences of the design on the manufacturing of the product, balancing long- and short-term views and balancing conflicting requirements (e.g. security vs. performance).
  • Working within a mixed internal/external stakeholder landscape, building an effective network with customers and suppliers and taking responsibility for the overall manufacturability, interfacing and introduction of new technology and methods in manufacturing sites.
  • Delivering input in the planning process to the project leader, commercial department and management.
  • Leading and coaching engineers in design teams, interacting with Project Managers and System Architects.

You're the right fit if:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in (industrial/mechanical) engineering or physics
  • Typically, more than 10 years of mechanical design experience in manufacturing production- or automated test equipment
  • Knowledge of modern manufacturing equipment design approach and related tools like Systems Engineering
  • Knowledge of medical industry, including standards and regulatory requirements in Healthcare production equipment
  • Combines strong analytical skills in architectural thinking and creation, with strong communicator (writing & speech), being able to communicate on all levels and able to negotiate integral trade-offs with multiple internal stakeholders and external parties (suppliers, partners) using Influencing skills, team player, networking skills, negotiation skills
  • Fluent in English, Dutch preferred
