JOB PURPOSE

• The Senior Director, Group Internal Audit, is responsible for leading and managing the internal audit function within the organization. This role involves developing and executing a comprehensive audit plan, assessing the effectiveness of internal controls, risk management, and governance processes, and providing independent assurance and strategic counsel to senior management and the Board Audit Committees.

• Provide independent, objective assurance and consultative activities in accordance with the Audit Charter based on “The Standards for the Professional Practice Framework” as prescribed by the Institute of Internal Auditors, Regulators’ requirements, and any other relevant standards.

• Lead the evaluation of the effectiveness of internal processes, controls, risk management, and governance across the organization, with a focus on the assigned portfolio of the Bank and related support functions.

• Provide independent and objective recommendations to enhance controls, minimize risks, prevent losses, and add value to the business processes to ensure compliance with the Bank’s policies and procedures and regulatory requirements, in line with industry’s best practices.

• Lead the review of departmental/divisional functions, processes, infrastructure, and application systems to strengthen governance, risk management, and controls.

• Present clear and concise audit findings, risk implications, root causes, and recommendations to senior management, the AHIBB Board Audit Committee, and the Group Board of Audit Committee (GBAC).

• Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including senior management, the audit committee, and external auditors. Act as a trusted advisor, providing independent and objective assurance on the AFFIN Group's governance, risk management, and control framework.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Oversee the planning, control, and execution of audit engagements for the Affin Group eg: Affin Bank Berhad (ABB), Affin Islamic Bank Berhad (AiBB), Affin Hwang Investment Bank Berhad (AHIBB) and other subsidiaries in alignment with the approved audit plan.

2. Plan and organize the audits of auditable entities within AFFIN Bank Group and other special assignments as and when required to do so. Duties include the following: -

3. Prepare an effective Audit Plan, collating the needed information through ACL, SIBS, and other available source, where applicable. Liaise with the relevant Division/Department/Branch/Subsidiary for information/update prior to the audit.

4. Develop and modify the Audit Programs, where necessary.

5. Lead and manage team members to carry out and complete the audit according to the audit objectives, established audit standards, approved Audit Plan and Audit Programs. Duties also include the following: -

6. Evaluating the performance of the auditable entity and appraising the effectiveness and efficiency of its controls, functions, operations as well as compliance with policies and procedures set by the Management.

7. Review the working papers and query sheets of team members to ensure that the audit is done in accordance with established standards.

8. Confer with the auditees and any other related parties on the shortcomings and discrepancies noted.

9. Examine and evaluate the activities of the auditees as follows:-

10. Assess the extent of auditees’ compliance with management instructions, policies and procedures and other established standards and regulations.

11. Determine the risk areas and appraise their significance in relation to operational factors such as cost and quality.

12. Identify conditions, factors and practices which may be considered inefficient or ineffective and recommend corrective actions to be taken.

13. Appraise and form objective opinion on the adequacy and effectiveness of the internal control systems and procedures.

14. Conduct thorough risk assessments to identify potential areas of concern and prioritize audit activities accordingly.

15. Evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and best practices.

16. Prepare detailed audit reports, highlighting key findings, recommendations, and action plans for senior management and the audit committee.

17. Corrective Action Tracking – to assist in tracking of audit findings to ensure timely rectification and full closure as well as escalating to Senior Management, GBAC, regulators of its status.

18. Lead, mentor, and develop a team of audit professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.

19. Guide and train the team members to develop their auditing skills and enhance their job knowledge and performance. Identify appropriate training courses to enhance knowledge and skills for self and team members.

20. Appraise the performance of the team members upon completion of an audit assignment or as and when necessary.

21. Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risks to continuously enhance the audit function's effectiveness and efficiency.

22. Ensure ongoing monitoring of compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.

23. Perform any other duties as and when assigned by Group Chief Internal Auditor.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

- A degree holder (a recognized degree in Accounting, Economics, Banking Studies, Business Studies would be an added advantage).

- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Internal Auditing, preferably in Financial Institution. Previous leadership experience is required.

- Certified Credit Executive (CCE), Professional Credit Certification (PCC) and other professional certifications are an added advantage.

- In-depth understanding of internal audit operations, financial products, and regulatory requirements. Familiarity with risk management frameworks and internal control principles. •

- Sound knowledge of Bank’s procedures and policies

- Good analytical ability and strong sense of judgement

- Good communication and interpersonal skills

- Good report writing skills

- High level of integrity

- PC Literate
