Job Description

The Team 

The Payments team is a distributed agile team with members based in Melbourne and Kuala Lumpur. We thrive in a supportive, collaborative environment where everyone's voice is heard. About the role 

The Payments team is dedicated to managing and processing all payments made by hirers, ensuring a smooth and efficient transaction process. As a Senior Software Engineer in Payments, you'll develop and maintain SEEK's online payment systems, ensuring our hirers enjoy a seamless and reliable payment experience. Your work will directly help businesses find the right talent without any payment hiccups.

You'll drive technical solutions, collaborate with talented folks across various teams, and keep our payment systems running smoothly. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you'll work closely with product managers, designers, and other software engineers. Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and maintain SEEKs online payment systems, ensuring high availability and security
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to discover and deliver good solutions.
  • Mentor and guide more junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and learningfocused environment.
  • Uphold code quality through rigorous code reviews, testing, and adherence to best practices.
  • Monitor and maintain the reliability and performance of our payment systems

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

  • Proven track record of successfully leading the development of complex software solutions
  • Proficient in at least one modern programming language, with expertise in both OOP and functional paradigms. Willingness and ability to quickly learn TypeScript and Node.js.
  • Experience mentoring and guiding junior engineers
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical topics to non-technical stakeholders

Other Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

  • Experience with cloud platforms and serverless architecture (ideally AWS)
  • Experience with CI/CD and DevOps practices (e.g BuildKite)
  • Understanding of security best practices in software development.
  • Experience with microservices architecture and containerisation (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Ability to write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
  • Experience in TypeScript and React would be advantageous but not mandatory, training can be provided.
