Job Description

AirAsia X Berhad is looking for a Technical Services Engineer - Powerplant 

Job Purpose:To provide technical support for aircraft APU and engine issues, ensuring continued airworthiness, operational reliability, and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Qualifications & Minimum Experience and Knowledge Requirements:

  • Educational Requirements:a. A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in any relevant Engineering discipline from a recognized institution, orb. A minimum of 3 years of relevant working experience on Airbus aircraft is preferred. Candidates with previous experience in project management, research and projects development, or participation in organizing community works will have an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support for aircraft APU and engine issues under ATA 49, 54, 70, 71, 72, 73, 74, 75, 77, 78, 79, and 80.
  • Offer efficient and effective technical support to aircraft operations.
  • Prepare and issue the necessary technical documents in accordance with approved procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Liaise with manufacturers, suppliers, aviation authorities, and other relevant sources to facilitate the analysis of engineering issues.
  • Evaluate continuing airworthiness data and provide sentencing recommendations to the Modification Evaluation Meeting for approval.
  • Provide approved data for technical instructions such as inspections, modifications, and structural repairs not covered by the Structural Repairs Manual.
  • Ensure that all technical documents issued comply with the department’s approval system requirements.
  • Prepare and manage Structural Damage Reports (Dent and Buckle Chart) for all aircraft relevant to applicable ATAs.
  • Oversee the APU and engine condition monitoring program to ensure consistent reliability.
  • Manage the off-wing maintenance program in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor engine and APU oil consumption through the AMOS database system and inputs from Line Maintenance.
  • Assist the Reliability section with root cause analysis, offering remedies for excessive or abnormal wear, malfunctions, or premature removals.
  • Undertake development studies to improve aircraft dispatch reliability and provide recommendations where necessary.
  • Address corrective and preventive actions resulting from compliance monitoring and audit program findings.
  • Undertake any other relevant duties as assigned by the superior.

  • Flexibility to work at ad hoc times or flexible hours to address aircraft defects or operational issues.
  • Detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple priorities.
  • Strong communication skills to liaise with various stakeholders such as suppliers, manufacturers, and aviation authorities.
