The incumbent will be responsible for assessing, monitoring, and mitigating credit risk exposure while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies. This role will involve analyzing customer creditworthiness, developing risk models, and working closely with other departments to optimize risk-return trade-offs.
Key Responsibilities
Evaluate and assess the creditworthiness of individual and business loan applicants using automated and data-driven credit assessment models.
Develop and maintain credit risk frameworks, policies, and procedures in line with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
Monitor loan portfolios, analyze key risk indicators, and provide early warning signals to mitigate potential losses.
Collaborate with the product and data analytics teams to improve credit risk models and enhance underwriting criteria.
Conduct stress testing and scenario analysis to assess potential impacts on credit portfolios.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including reporting obligations to regulatory bodies.
Identify opportunities for process automation and enhancement of risk assessment methodologies using AI and machine learning tools.
Prepare credit risk reports and dashboards for senior management and risk committees.
Work with fraud prevention teams to develop and refine fraud detection mechanisms.
Participate in the development of new credit products while balancing risk and business objectives.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Mathematics, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in credit risk management, preferably in a digital banking or fintech environment.
Strong knowledge of credit risk modeling, underwriting, and regulatory frameworks (e.g., MFRS 9).
Experience working with credit scoring models, AI-driven risk assessments, and big data analytics.
Proficiency in SQL, Python, or R for risk analysis and modeling is an advantage.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, data-driven environment.
Familiarity with automated lending platforms and digital banking ecosystems.
