Job Description

  • Documentation: Oversee and enforce safety policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure adherence to relevant regulations and industry standards.

  • Risk Assessment: Identify potential hazards in the workplace and evaluate the risks to employee health and safety. Conduct regular inspections, audits, and risk assessments to spot areas that require improvement and develop strategies to minimize or eliminate these risks.

  • Safety Training: Coordinate and deliver safety training programs for employees, including new hire orientations, safety inductions, and ongoing training sessions. Ensure employees are informed of potential hazards, understand safety protocols, and are proficient in using safety equipment.

  • Incident Investigation: Lead thorough investigations into accidents, injuries, and near-miss incidents to uncover root causes and contributing factors. Review incident reports, interview witnesses, and examine the scene to determine corrective actions and prevent similar events in the future.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations, as well as industry-specific standards, including waste management. Stay up-to-date with changes in safety laws and advise management on necessary steps to maintain compliance.

  • Safety Culture Promotion: Cultivate a proactive safety culture by encouraging employee involvement in safety programs, reporting safety concerns, and proposing improvements. Organize safety campaigns, toolbox talks, and other initiatives to enhance awareness and engagement.

  • Documentation and Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and current records of safety training, incidents, inspections, and other related activities. Ensure proper organization of documentation for regulatory compliance and reporting purposes.

  • Collaboration with Management and Stakeholders: Collaborate with management, supervisors, and other key stakeholders to design safety programs, execute safety initiatives, and address safety concerns. Offer guidance to management in making informed decisions regarding health and safety issues.

  • Emergency Response Preparedness: Develop and implement an On-Site Emergency Response Team and establish emergency response procedures to ensure readiness and regulatory compliance during emergencies.

  • Performance Monitoring and Evaluation: Track safety metrics and performance indicators to evaluate the effectiveness of safety initiatives. Identify trends, pinpoint areas for improvement, and recommend corrective actions.

  • Continuous Professional Development: Stay informed on the latest trends and best practices in occupational health and safety through ongoing professional development, attending seminars, and keeping current with industry standards.
