As a Direct Tax Manager, this position is responsible to lead and work closely with Head of Tax to optimise the performance of the tax function, overall management of the direct tax compliance (including tax accounting and reporting) and advisory/planning of the CelcomDigi Group of Companies.
• Ensure accurate and timely compliance for all direct tax matters (corporate tax filing, transfer pricing documentation, withholding tax, tax estimates etc.) • Handles the computation of current tax and deferred tax for financial reporting and tax closing purposes, including liaising with external auditors to provide supporting documentation and explanations for the tax positions. • Oversee and manage tax audits, liaise with tax authorities and handle dispute resolutions. • Develop, implement, and maintain transfer pricing policies in alignment with OECD guidelines and local regulations, as well as review transfer pricing documentation, Master File, Country-by-Country Reports (CbCR) and Global Minimum Tax (GMT). • Active participation and collaboration with internal stakeholders, including finance, legal, IT, and respective business units, to provide tax support for strategic initiatives. Influence stakeholders to adopt best practices with a view of achieving tax optimisation whilst managing tax risks. • Participate in industry initiatives and lead/participate in cross functional initiatives, including lobbying the Government for tax incentives/concessions including tax incentives application, etc. • Review of legal documents and contracts. • Design and implement tax operational processes to improve efficiency, accuracy, and compliance and identify opportunities for automation and digital transformation in tax processes. • Involves in ad-hoc projects such as E-Invoicing and ERP configurations/updates on matters relating to direct taxes.
• Degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent. Preferably a member of CTIM/ACCA/ICAEW/CPA/MIA or equivalent professional accounting body. • Minimum 10 years of relevant tax experience in taxation function with an emphasis on tax operations experience preferably in Public Listed Company, Multinational Company or Big Four Tax Firms. • In depth knowledge of the Income Tax legislation and guidelines. • Should have knowledge in tax accounting and transfer pricing. • Experience in telecommunication industry and SAP will be an added advantage. • Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills. • Proven track record working with government agencies, local authorities to resolve Tax matters.
