Corrosion Engineer

Join our Compatibility & Coating Solutions Team The Compatibility & Coating Solutions Team aims at studying the materials compatibility with conventional and unconventional fluids and developing innovative coatings/surface treatment solutions. The team evaluates, develops, and industrializes new emerging technologies to guarantee the best performances of the new Energy Transition products enriching Baker Hughes portfolio. The internal coatings and materials laboratories and the strong collaborations with external research centers and universities allows to effectively address the challenges of the new products development.

Partner with the bestWe are seeking a highly motivated person with a scientific background in corrosion and corrosion prevention. The main responsibility in the Compatibility & Coating Solution Team will be the study of corrosion issues for turbomachinery and new products, the definition of internal standards for preservation process, the qualification of external suppliers, resolution of non-conformities. In this role he/she will collaborate with internal and external cross functional teams (engineering, manufacturing and sourcing).

Responsibilities:

As Corrosion Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Study of materials compatibility in different corrosive environments
  • Laboratory testing for assessing corrosion behavior and chemical compatibility of materials/coatings
  • Definition of internal standards for preservation process
  • Qualification of external suppliers
  • Resolution of non-conformities and deviations in preservation process
  • Support in ITO (Inquiry to Order) and OTR (Order to Remittance) phases as corrosion and preservation specialist

Requirements:

To be successful in this role you will: 

  • Have MSc in Materials Engineering, Chemistry, or similar;
  • Technical expertise on corrosion, materials/coatings characterization and testing, corrosion prevention, and mitigation strategies, preservation processes and products;
  • Have excellent communication and written skills in English.
  • Be able to travel internationally.
  • Be a self-starter, proactively taking the initiative to solve problems and provide solutions
  • Exhibit the highest standards of ethical conduct and responsibility for fully understanding and complying with company policies
