About the position:The Flare and Relief Engineer is part of the Project Designs Engineering team within the Chevron ENGINE Center and provides flare and relief (overpressure protection) technical support to MCPs (Major Capital Projects) and BUs  (Business Units) across the Enterprise.  The focus of this role is on accelerating process safety safeguard verification and capability across the enterprise to enable BU self-assurance in the future.Key responsibilities:

  • Provide technical fire and relief expertise to maintain safe and reliable operations.

  • Utilize analytical tools such as Pro II, and iPRSMS  PSPPM to analyze plant operation and overpressure scenarios.

  • Support Process Safety Management concepts and principles such as PHA and LOPA

  • Performing MOC evaluations for changes that impact relief protection.

  • Participate as a member of the Process Safety Safeguard Assurance Field Team.

  • Participate as SME in risk studies.

  • It is anticipated that domestic or international travel will be required.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering discipline (mechanical, chemical, etc.) (B.E./B.Tech.) from a deemed/recognized (AICTE) university

  • Familiarity with modeling software used by the flare & relief team such as iPRSM, HYSYS, Pro/II, FlareSim or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years of experience in an engineering execution or consultant role within offshore, complex or LNG facilities.

  • Knowledge in chemical engineering fundamentals of mass transfer/distillation, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, process control and kinetics; especially as it relates to overpressure protection (flare and relief)

  • Knowledge and experience in Process Engineering in complex process facilities, possibly through operation support engineering assignments or process design work

Chevron ENGINE supports global operations, supporting business requirements across the world. Accordingly, the work hours for employees will be aligned to support business requirements. The standard work week will be Monday to Friday. Working hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm or 1:30pm to 10:30pm.
