1About the position:The Senior Subsea Surveyor is a team member of the Subsea, Civil, and Marine Engineering team within Chevron’s ENGINE Center and provides deep technical expertise in land & hydrographic survey & positioning principles, data collection, processing and quality control. This role requires knowledge in applying geospatial processing and visualization packages such as: ESRI Geographic Information Systems (GIS), EIVA, AutoCAD, Cyclone, etc. to derive valuable insight for our business. The successful candidate will need to have a strong core knowledge on the application of coordinate reference systems, transformations, and vertical datums. The successful candidate will be responsible for advising Upstream Major Capital Projects (from concept development to commissioning), Base Business Subsea Operations, Downstream Manufacturing Facilities development & maintenance operations across multiple international locations.Key Responsibilities:
Provide short-term survey & positioning support to Chevron’s Major Capital Projects and assets globally to ensure technical excellence and operational efficiency
Review of survey procedures, site representation, acoustic frequency management planning, subsea metrology, offshore installation, subsea intervention, and inspection of subsea facilities and pipelines
Leverage data and software engineering techniques to create business value through data accessibility, data processing, data management and application of GIS
Understanding the business needs of the corporation to support work processes and strategic business objectives
Initiate and lead research and development programs to deliver new technologies to the business
Establishes & maintains working relationships with key stakeholders within the ENGINE, Chevron Technology Center, Capital Projects, and Business Units across the enterprise. Collaborate with industry peers on developing standards, data models and best practice to drive efficiency
Required Qualifications:
Bachelors in Surveying, Geomatics, Geodetic Science or associated discipline
Have core knowledge of geodesy and coordinate projection mathematics and transformation and basic tidal model application
Be familiar with current land & subsea survey and positioning equipment, operational procedures and data processing techniques
Knowledge of applicable industry and regulatory codes and standards
Preferred Qualifications:
A minimum of 10-15 years’ experience in land & offshore positioning, geophysical survey, terrestrial laser scanning and photogrammetric surveys, aerial LiDAR surveys, survey control networks and construction support
Demonstrated success working on multi-discipline teams as a technical contributor
Experience applying agile project management principles
Familiarity with the development and application of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GENAI) tools & platforms is highly regarded
Experience working with diverse geospatial 3D data types e.g. Digital Terrain Models (DTM), LiDAR point clouds, orthomosaics, Business Information Models (BIM), etc
Chevron ENGINE supports global operations, supporting business requirements across the world. Accordingly, the work hours for employees will be aligned to support business requirements. The standard work week will be Monday to Friday. Working hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm or 1.30pm to 10.30pm.
