The Role

Infrastructure Specialists at Kyndryl are project-based subject matter experts in all things infrastructure – good at providing analysis, documenting and diagraming work for hand-off, offering timely solutions, and generally “figuring it out.” This is a hands-on role where your feel for the interaction between a system and its environment will be invaluable to every one of your clients.There are two halves to this role: First, contributing to current projects where you analyze problems and tech issues, offer solutions, and test, modify, automate, and integrate systems. And second, long-range strategic planning of IT infrastructure and operational execution. This role isn’t specific to any one platform, so you’ll need a good feel for all of them. And because of this, you’ll experience variety and growth at Kyndryl that you won’t find anywhere else.

Design, implement, and maintain Azure cloud infrastructure using Terraform (IaC).
Deploy and manage Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) clusters for containerized workloads.
Optimize Azure networking, security, and storage configurations for performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
Ensure compliance with security policies and governance frameworks while implementing high-availability and disaster recovery strategies.

Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps (ADO) to automate software delivery.
Integrate Terraform, Helm, and Kubernetes manifests into deployment workflows.
Implement progressive deployment strategies (blue-green deployments, canary releases, rolling updates).
Automate build, test, and deployment processes to enhance software delivery speed and reliability.

Deploy, configure, and optimize containerized applications in AKS using Kubernetes best practices.
Implement Kubernetes networking, service meshes, and monitoring solutions.
Troubleshoot and optimize Kubernetes clusters for high availability and resilience.
Collaborate with development teams to containerize applications and optimize Docker images.

Utilize Git for version control, branching strategies, and code collaboration.
Manage repositories and workflows using Azure DevOps Repos (Git).
Implement GitOps principles to streamline Kubernetes and infrastructure automation.

Implement security best practices for cloud infrastructure, containers, and CI/CD pipelines.
Enforce Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), secrets management, and security policies.
Set up monitoring, logging, and observability tools such as Azure Monitor, Prometheus, Grafana, and Log Analytics.
Conduct infrastructure vulnerability assessments and remediate security risks.

Work closely with developers, testers, and SRE teams to enhance DevOps practices.
Advocate for DevOps culture, automation, and continuous improvement.
Document and maintain runbooks, infrastructure diagrams, and deployment procedures.
Provide mentorship and training to junior engineers and cross-functional teams.

You’ll be involved early to offer solutions, help decide whether something can be done, and identify the technical and timeline risks up front. This means dealing with both client expectations and internal challenges – in other words, there are plenty of opportunities to make a difference, and a lot of people will witness your contributions. In fact, a frequent sign of success for our Infrastructure Specialists is when clients come back to us and ask for the same person by name. That’s the kind of impact you can have!

Required Technical & Professional Experience

7+ years of hands-on experience in Azure cloud infrastructure management.
Expertise in Terraform (IaC) for provisioning and automation.
Strong experience with Kubernetes (AKS), Docker, and containerized applications.
Proficiency in CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps (ADO) and Git workflows.
Hands-on experience in Python, Bash, and PowerShell scripting for automation.
Strong knowledge of Azure networking (VNETs, NSGs, Load Balancers, App Gateway) and security best practices.
Experience with monitoring/logging tools such as Azure Monitor, Prometheus, Grafana, Log Analytics, and ELK Stack.
Understanding of DevOps methodologies, GitOps principles, and Agile/Scrum environments.

Preferred Technical & Professional Experience

Experience with Helm, ArgoCD, and Kubernetes operators.
Knowledge of Bicep (as an alternative to Terraform) for Azure deployments.
Familiarity with Azure Functions, Azure Service Bus, and serverless architectures.
Exposure to multi-cloud (AWS, GCP) and hybrid cloud solutions.
Understanding of SRE (Site Reliability Engineering) principles and incident management strategies.

Preferred Certifications

Microsoft Certified: Azure DevOps Engineer Expert
Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate
