About the position:The Civil/Structural/Marine Engineer (CSME) Lead is part of the Facilities Designs Engineering team and supervises a team of CSME Engineers within the Chevron ENGINE Center.  This role’s primary purpose is to provide leadership to a team responsible for providing civil/structural designs support to Chevron's Refining and Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) assets including operations and projects.  The CSME Team will support cross functional teams engaging with Operations, Maintenance and other engineering functions across Chevron.Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise, coach, mentor, and develop CSME Design Engineers providing leadership and guidance on standard tools and processes

  • Sets clear expectations and supports creation and management of individuals’ performance and development plans

  • Partner with customers and stakeholders to prioritize the team’s workload. Ensure the team is appropriately resourced to meet the customer's needs and business plan commitments

  • Leverage expertise and knowledge of CSME systems to Design, implements, and optimizes oil and gas equipment in new and modified facilities

  • Ensure that civil/structural designs for onshore/offshore facilities, including marine facilities, meet specifications and applicable Codes/Standards\Provide design engineering support for Asset Brownfield Engineering related Projects, as well as providing input and conducting design studies in Opportunity Development

  • Development and approval of a wide variety of discipline deliverables

  • Development and checking of calculations / analyses.

  • Support functional review of Management of Change (MOCs) requests

  • Development of/input to Request for Proposal/Request for Quotation and review of technical bid packages

  • Work closely with the Lead discipline engineer and interface with other disciplines to ensure design quality and successful outcomes, including interfacing with discipline Subject Matter Experts and/or Technical Authorities to address complex issues or specification compliance queries

  • Promote a continual improvement mindset while removing barriers and seeking simple, fit-for-purpose solutions.  Ensures lessons learned are shared and incorporated into the applicable systems for sustainability

  • Provide leadership in sharing information and resources across the business units

  • Leads projects of large scope and complexity under minimal supervision

  • Support department recruiting and hiring efforts

  • Develop and apply CSME engineering and design principles to deliver high quality and predictable designs on projects

Required Qualifications:

  • Engineering degree in Civil or Structural engineering (B.E./B.Tech.) from a deemed/recognized (AICTE) an appropriate certified university

  • 5-10 years relevant experience providing technical civil/structural/marine engineering support

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in an operational support role or similar for a complex refinery or LNG facility (preferred)

  • Demonstrated supervisory experience will be highly regarded

  • Experience with Concept, Front End, Detailed engineering and design requirements within an Operational environment

Chevron ENGINE supports global operations, supporting business requirements across the world. Accordingly, the work hours for employees will be aligned to support business requirements. The standard work week will be Monday to Friday. Working hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm or 1.30pm to 10.30pm.
