About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Systems Operations Engineer to join our team in Dublin. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the reliability, performance, and continuous improvement of application services delivered by Enterprise Functions Technology (EFT) across EMEA and APAC. These services support a wide range of international business operations.

You will work in close partnership with the EMEA IT Service Management team to provide strategic oversight and manage the delivery of outsourced application services. A key focus of the role is identifying opportunities for service enhancement, driving operational excellence, and ensuring that all EFT services are delivered in alignment with agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

This is a high-impact role that offers the opportunity to influence service quality on a global scale, contribute to long-term technology strategy, and make a measurable difference in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead complex, broad impact initiatives including provision of high level systems consultation for the technology teams.
  • Work as key participant in large scale planning of computer systems and network infrastructure for Systems Operations functional areas.
  • Review and analyze complex technical challenges, as well as escalated support issues related to core business solutions that require in depth evaluation of multiple factors, such as alternatives, enhancements, periodic systems reviews, or improvements to existing systems.
  • Make decisions on technical changes and enhancements.
  • Consult with engineering team on change design requiring solid understanding of technical process controls or standards that influence and drive new initiatives.
  • Collaborate and consult with technical peers, colleagues, and mid to more experienced level managers to resolve systems support issues and achieve goals.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in Systems Engineering, Technology Architecture, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.
  • Service focus. Know how to see the bigger picture and can drive to get the best business outcomes within the underlying EFT Platform.
  • Service Management Framework knowledge. Have a recognised Service Management Framework qualification, e.g. ITIL.
  • Service reporting. Can leverage data analytics skills to enhance service delivery and performance. Can see the patterns and trends within the data and translate this into meaningful reporting for consumption across Technology, leading to continual service improvement.
  • Business Continuity & Operational Resiliency.  Have a good understanding of BCP & resiliency planning.
  • Problem Management. Can lead investigative work into problems driving the collection of information and creation of recommendations for improvements. Know how to absorb large amounts of conflicting information and use it to produce solutions.
  • Continual service improvement. Know how to analyse current processes, identify, and implement opportunities to optimise processes. Lead and develop SME’s to deliver service improvements.
  • Ownership and initiative. Can take accountability of issues that occur and be proactive in searching for potential problems. Know how to achieve excellent user outcomes.
  • Relationship management. Know how to influence stakeholders and manage relationships effectively. Can build long-term strategic relationships.
  • Strategic thinking. Can define service delivery strategies and policies, providing guidance to others on working in the strategic context. Know how to evaluate current strategies to ensure business requirements are being met and exceeded where possible.
  • Technical understanding. You have solid experience of Investment banking technologies (Finance and Regulatory) and understand core technical concepts.   Can coach and mentor members of the wider EFT team and help guide their work to prioritise key initiatives and tasks effectively.
  • User focus. Know how to collaborate with and represent users internally. Understand the difference between user needs and the desires of the user.
  • Communication. Can communicate effectively at all levels and are able to articulate complex technology problems in a fluent and succinct business language.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Application production support experience.
  • An industry-standard technology certification.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of test driven application development.
  • Experience designing and developing learning for complex technology systems and processes including Agile development methodology environments.
  • Experience designing, developing, and implementing large scale, complex software applications.
  • Outstanding problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Solid critical thinking skills.
  • Experience with financial accounting tools.
