Job Description:

Job Summary

The Gateway Supervisor monitors operational activities including loading and unloading at the Gateway. The Gateway Supervisor coordinates Air Hub operational activities to ensure timely processing of customer packages. He/She assists with meeting financial goals through reporting and cost reviews. This position supports employee safety and regulatory compliance. He/She supervises others within the department.

Job Responsibilities

Coordinates Gateway Operations

  • Reviews daily operational reports to manage productivity and performance
  • Monitors operational cycles to ensure successful completion and eliminate encumbrances

Monitors Gateway Regulatory Compliance

  • Observes Gateway work methods to determine effectiveness
  • Facilitates monthly and annual recertification training sessions to meet requirements of local, state, federal, and corporate regulations
  • Revises training program materials to incorporate feedback in response to process and procedure changes
  • Tracks service results to oversee packages are sorted correctly

Manages Gateway Training

  • Trains Gateway employees on safe work methods, UPSCO approved procedures and all applicable government regulations to ensure a safe environment
  • Conducts monthly training jacket, training folder, and skills inventory audits to verify training participation and implementation
  • Reviews safety, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, UPSCO approved procedures, and self assessments to confirm safety compliance and certification requirements are met
  • Provides additional safety training to employees with a history of injuries and accidents to reduce risks

Monitors Safety Programs and Workplace Injuries

  • Conducts evaluations of Gateway employee work methods to prevent injury and ensure compliance
  • Provides training demonstrations to correct at-risk work practices
  • Ensures training development and delivery completion in accordance with regulatory standards to guarantee work place compliance
  • Follows up on Gateway-related training issues to ensure gaps are resolved as appropriate
  • Trains Ramp employees in methods to ensure proper methods are utilized

Supervises and Develops Others

  • Determines employees’ training needs to produce continuous development plans
  • Provides on-going feedback and support to improve performance
  • Conducts performance evaluations in a consistent, fair, and objective manner to encourage continuous performance improvement
  • Holds others accountable to established performance levels to achieve individual and group goals
  • Resolves individual and group performance issues in accordance with UPS’s policies and procedures in a timely manner to motivate and foster teamwork

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in similar capacity preferably coming from Logistics & Supply Chain or Aviation industry
  • Demonstrated leadership ability with successful people management experience will be highly desirable but not essential
  • Prior experience in international air freight operations (airline knowledge) with familiar understanding of legal, regulatory and compliance updates
  • Possess excellent communication and negotiation skills with the ability to communicate effectively in both Chinese (Cantonese/Mandarin and English to interact with internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent interpersonal skill which includes conducting presentation to the top management
  • Require demonstrated skills in Microsoft Office Programs (MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Access)
  • Candidate must be comfortable to travel overseas to attend training due to business requirement
