Job Summary

In this role, the candidate will play a crucial part in maintaining the integrity of the Technology function by ensuring that operational risks are managed proactively and in alignment with the bank’s risk appetite and regulatory requirements. As part of FM Technology Advisory Team supporting the First Line of Defence within Technology for the Europe and Americas Region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adhere to the Bank’s Enterprise Risk Management Framework (ERMF) and support the Group’s Operational Risk strategy and associated procedures to ensure effective management of operational risk.
  • Implement operational risk controls, governance, and supervision within the Technology domain to maintain robust risk management practices within the Region.
  • Ensure that operational risks related to Technology are identified, assessed, mitigated, monitored, and reported to relevant business forums, governance forums, and committees for informed decision-making.
  • Assist in managing the Technology Risk Reporting within the Region, ensuring accurate and timely dissemination of risk information to required stakeholders.
  • Develop enhancements to operational risk controls to ensure that known operational risks are managed within acceptable risk appetite and standards.
  • Facilitate the efficient review and processing of audit requests from both internal and external auditors. 
  • Serve as the primary contact for operational risk-related incidents, queries, and events within the Technology function for the Region.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders across regions and groups, such as Business Risk Managers, to increase transparency, share key learnings, and implement best practices relevant to Technology.
  • Ensure compliance with policies applicable to Technology, maintaining adherence to regulatory and internal standards.
  • Proactively challenge processes, procedures, and policies that introduce or increase operational risk, or identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Escalate issues, blockages, challenges, emerging risks, and trends that introduce or increase operational risk to relevant stakeholders promptly.
  • Collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate, and resolve risk and compliance matters effectively to safeguard the organisation.
  • Assist in evaluating the effectiveness of technology controls within the Region, ensuring robust governance, oversight, and control mechanisms are in place. 

Qualifications

  • Proven working experience in Information Technology, Risk Management, or Technology Risk.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g. CISA, CISM, CRISC, CISSP) preferred.
  • Experience working in an organisation subject to strong regulatory oversight and scrutiny.
  • Strong understanding of Technology related policies and procedure.
  • Experience with IT Risk Management Operating Models, three lines-of-defense frameworks, and/or risk intelligence capabilities.
  • Knowledge in leading and executing IT internal control and IT governance and control frameworks.
  • Experience in evaluating the adequacy and effectiveness of policies, procedures, processes, initiatives, products, and internal controls.
  • Ability to work effectively within a global, multi-functional team environment with strong influencing and stakeholder management skills.
  • Demonstrates a high degree of responsibility and integrity, with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Experience working with internal and external auditors. 
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, along with strong interpersonal, organisational, analytical, and critical thinking abilities.
