The opportunity: 

Due to a retirement within the team, we have a rare opportunity for an experienced Senior Claims Adjuster to join us in the Energy, Marine and Construction claims team. You’ll provide a quality focused claims service and be responsible for ensuring the effective and prompt settlement of Construction and Energy claims notified to the team.

What will you be doing?

  • Ensuring effective and prompt settlement of claims within the EMC Claims team, predominantly in the Construction and Energy business areas
  • Investigating and negotiating claims within defined authority limits
  • Mentoring claims adjusters, acting as a point of referral, technical guidance and providing oversight (authority)
  • Responsible for file quality reviews (LMRs)
  • Setting of accurate case reserves
  • Contributing to high level technical output from team and supporting a positive team culture
  • Managing external counsel and experts both locally and internationally
  • Promptly handling and resolving all claims enquiries from customers, brokers and third parties
  • Ability to lead a market through a large and / or complex claim
  • Managing situations of conflict and have the ability to influence and persuade others
  • Engaging proactively with large numbers of stakeholders, both internally and externally

Who are we looking for?

  • A proactive and innovative approach to claim solutions from working within technical claims environment
  • Relevant business/industry qualification - ACII qualification is highly desirable
  • Strong technical knowledge of all products and services offered by the Line of Business. (& wider business knowledge to support cross sell opportunities)
  • Astute and commercially aware with an awareness of the market, business and risks
  • Excellent understanding of London Market Insurance environment
  • Solid understanding of legislation and legal liability
  • Numerate and analytical thinker with excellent negotiation skills
  • Ability to deliver Thought Leadership on key topics
  • A team player with the ability to deliver excellent customer service
  • Computer-literate with working knowledge of Outlook and MS office
