The Cyber Claims Technical Leader will report to the Global Head of Cyber Technical Claims, General Insurance, and is responsible for technical oversight of all assigned complex, cyber-related large losses, for North America / International, General Insurance.

The role is responsible for executing on the GI Claims strategic vision and approach to and resolution of large cyber and data privacy claims, driving claims consistency by product, developing best practices, providing technical claims oversight across all products, partnering with underwriting on trends and working with actuarial to develop a robust and consistent approach to claims reserving. 

In addition, have a customer focused approach to help drive a differentiated claims service which provides a positive outcomes and resolutions.  The role will partner closely with the Underwriting teams in helping to service and secure new business opportunities.  In addition, contribute to the broader strategic direction and transformation of the General Insurance claims organization.

How you'll make an impact:

  • Providing oversight of technical claims across all cyber-related and specialty Financial Lines products, focusing on overall claims consistency, thought leadership, best practices, lessons learned and technical trainings across all regions and products in International, General Insurance.
  • Formulating claims best practices, and overseeing compliance for Major Financial Lines claims based on current and evolving market and product trends.
  • Partnering with Underwriters on business retention and attraction and develop a market leading Cyber Claims offering.
  • Developing a formalized “lessons learned” capability fit for purpose for Major Financial Lines to ensure claim insights are communicated consistently with stakeholders in Underwriting, Actuarial, and finance.
  • Engaging in regular claims data and trend analysis to provide continuous feedback into the Underwriting and Product teams on loss drivers, policy wordings, emerging risks, trends, and competitive intelligence.
  • Developing and delivering technical claims and underwriting training content.
  • Engaging with region and product teams in Cyber and other Specialty Financial Lines to maintain overall consistency for cross-product / cross region exposures.
  • Serving as a key strategic claims’ partner for stakeholders across General Insurance relating to the Cyber and Specialty Financial Lines businesses.
  • Developing a collaborative and proactive approach that ensures “more eyes on the file” for select transactions, severe losses and on certain complex claims.
  • Supporting ongoing Major Financial Lines technical claims improvement projects through initiatives to foster an environment of continuous improvement.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with internal Cyber and Specialty Financial Lines Underwriting and Distribution teams in order to provide excellent customer service and meet client’s needs.
  • Building and maintaining strong and effective relationships with key external business partners across Cyber and other Specialty Financial Lines to ensure that service delivery meets appropriate standards and expectations.
  • Developing tools and strategies, in collaboration with HR, to attract and retain top industry talent and develop high performing technical claims teams.
  • Driving a culture that promotes collaboration, diversity and inclusion.

The candidate should demonstrate a passion for breaking new ground to lead change.  The successful candidate will possess a demonstrated ability to diverse claims outcomes and differentiated claims service, while serving as an exceptionally effective change agent.  The candidate will possess a strong business and process mindset and change leadership skills to unify operational teams around common goals.

What you'll need to succeed:

  • Significant claims handling and leadership experience with an emphasis on cyber-related products and claims across multiple geographies.
  • Legal, technical IT or related training and experience in Cyber / Technology preferred.
  • Strong commercial mindset with a proven track record of making sound judgments backed by strong analytical skills and business acumen.
  • Self-directed with ability to manage, motivate and effectively influence others\.
  • Strategic Leadership skills in developing vision and purpose, driving for results and leading effective teams.
  • Skilled leader of change; versatile, client focused, results oriented.
  • Demonstrated expert claims experience, business savvy, analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
