An Application Architect applies advanced subject matter knowledge to complex business issues and is regarded as a subject matter expert. Frequently contributes to the development of new ideas and methods. Works on complex problems/projects where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of multiple factors. Exercises significant independent judgment within broadly defined policies and practices to determine best method for accomplishing work and achieving objectives. Leads and/or provides expertise to functional project teams and may participate in cross- functional initiatives. May provide mentoring and guidance to other employees. Acts as an expert providing direction and guidance to process improvements and establishing policies. Frequently represents the organization to external customers/clients.
Responsibilities
Analyzes business and technical requirements for the development of medium to large solutions
Develops architecture work products including definition of principles, requirements, design, implementation plans, or operational support documents
Assesses the technical impact of multiple technologies/strategies, and develops technically feasible IT strategies and plans
Identifies and addresses technical or operational risks for architectures for particular projects or programs
Works with third party vendors to develop and/or integrate their applications into company products; ensures that applications are in accordance with company product standards and guidelines.
Utilizes DXC methodologies, product and services offerings to architect customer solutions. Recommends enhancements to DXC methodologies, product and service offerings.
Coaches, mentors and other architects and technical leaders, and serves as an active member of the virtual technical community
Knowledge and Skills
Senior Java developer who is experienced with the tool stack mentioned below and enjoys developing software.
Has experience with automated deployments and defining related development tasks.
Can find root cause of bugs reported based on what users see – not what the application does.
Has the ability to look at the application with a top-down approach and draw the architectural lines while being loyal to standards and common code modules developed in the project.
Is used to mentoring less experienced developers such that the software is developed in accordance with the architectural lines while still providing the developers with the possibility to grow technically.
Can go into specific, hard technical challenges and develop or describe solutions.
