Kafka as a Service – Corporate Bank Technology

Addressing the needs of the wider technology organisation to have a reliable service and guidance around Kafka which enables diverse use cases to make best use of this key technology is critical to the success of the latest organisational strategies and business needs.

Kafka as a Service is a Bank-wide Kafka platform, and we are looking for a platform engineer who could undertake platform build and maintenance activities

Your key responsibilities

  • Kafka platform DEVOPS engineer with platform build and maintenance activities.

  • To undertake software development and support of platform tenants

  • Working with system and application users to understand new requirements, develop and test new features.

  • Have a conscientious approach to testing and documentation.

  • To organise and present design and code reviews for work undertaken.

  • Working alongside Platform teams to understand the design and architecture of new services to be launched and ensuring there are appropriate interfaces to allow collection of appropriate monitoring and service information.

Your skills and experiences

  • Experience with event streaming platforms, such as Kafka, in particular use of Kafka Connect, Kafka Streams, and KSQL.

  • Practical experience of whole software development lifecycle, producing high quality re-useable code in a team environment.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills in team and corporate environments.

  • A reasonable understanding and appreciation of IT and network security best practices.

  • Experience in modern software development tools/ways of working (e.g. git/GitHub, devops tools, metrics / monitoring, …) designing and developing
