Retail Banking Services Finance acts as a partner to the Retail Banking Services business unit and other business units (our customers) to help them succeed with the Bank’s goals and their business unit responsibilities. This is achieved by providing financial information and business advice to support our business units to build sustainable shareholder value. Retail Banking Services Finance forms part of the Financial Services business unit whose vision is to make a difference on the things that matter.
Do work that matters The team delivers comprehensive business performance insights, financial analysis, and strategic advice on the Home Lending product portfolio, Subsidiary Reporting support and review and Capital Data & Reporting Enhancements which support both operational and strategic decision-making. Primarily, the team provides financial support to the Home Buying business and Leadership team, GM Retail Products, GM Retail Distribution, and the RBS CFO. Additionally, the team manages relationships with other key stakeholders.
See yourself in our team This role is a key position in the Home Buying finance team providing crucial financial management reporting to the business and wider finance team. The role involves assisting with several initiatives for the team that not only facilitate decision making by the business but also ensure appropriate risk management controls are in place (both in terms of Financial Control and identifying potential risk areas in the business).
Your responsibilities
To support outstanding customer service, the role will need to manage expectations across a wide range of stakeholders
Prepare and contribute to the monthly performance reporting for designated product portfolios, ensuring the delivery of financial control outputs and the continuous enhancement of reports
Conduct ongoing forecast and budget preparation for the white label ventures / other portfolios (third party banking and subsidiaries) as required, providing driver-based analysis and variance analysis to management
Proactively driving new analyses and prepare ad-hoc insights for key stakeholders (e.g., CFO, GM Finance, EGM Product, GM Product), including information for profit announcements and analyst briefings
Assist with regular financial and business analysis of the product portfolio, offering insights on business drivers, market dynamics, and the competitive landscape where relevant
Provide financial input on business assumptions for investment initiatives, product launches, and major business decisions, ensuring consistent application of financial rigor
Support the delivery of results, board papers, AFSL monitoring, income tax, financial statements, and statutory reports for relevant subsidiaries to ASIC, other authorities, and BU Finance teams
Facilitate the delivery of month-end processing, including accounting journals, reconciliations, and half and full-year group consolidation packs for the CBA annual report
Support the execution of any operational processes specific to the portfolio of subsidiaries
Support with capital and RBS RWA reporting, assisting with capital analysis and acting as a key stakeholder for RBS capital across BU Finance teams
Contribute to a diverse range of projects, including productivity/process improvements, system changes, and other ad hoc project initiatives
Establish and maintain effective relationships with clients in business units, Finance Services, and service providers
Ability to use business intelligence tools such as Tableau and SQL to produce analysis and insights
Develop and support other team members
Actively contribute to process improvement, simplification, and cross-skilling across the RBS Retail Product team
Foster a customer-focused, high-performing team culture, including ongoing knowledge transfer of the quantitative and qualitative drivers of the portfolio
Undertake any other tasks assigned by the manager that can be competently and safely performed

Strong business partnering and stakeholder management experience
Strong experience in a financial performance management (monthly management reporting/ forecasting) and financial / systems controls
High level proficiency in financial modelling and trend analysis
Excellent verbal, written communication skills and critical thinking skills
Strong teamwork capabilities / management of group tasks
Proven ability to manage multiple deliverables simultaneously
Knowledge of the financial reporting framework and strong technical accounting skills.
