OverviewThe Design teams at CBA are rapidly growing, and we are looking to hear from a range of Strategic Designers to work across our Human-Centred Design teams. These roles are a mix of Senior to Lead positions, and we are looking for a range of T-shaped designers that have that end-to-end capability with strong strategic and stakeholder management experience.

You are a visionary Designer, strong communicator, and collaborator. You empower people from different disciplines to work in a coherent cross-functional environment to deliver impactful design solutions. You balance strategy with execution to simplify complex journeys that deliver both customer and business value. You can work front-to-back in value streams, advocate for customers, and inform decisions using evidence-based insights and data.

What You’ll Bring

  • Deep expertise in design thinking methodologies applied to product, proposition, service and digital experiences. We are looking for different T-shaped practitioners and leaders, so if you have deep skills in any one design discipline and are well-versed in the others, we’d love to hear from you.
  • Strong skills in systems thinking, prototyping, and storytelling to bring ideas to life.
  • Applies a front-to-back lens to value streams to articulate what needs to change for customers, processes across the bank and technology environment.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and define problem spaces with clarity and insight.
  • A track record of leading cross-functional collaboration to shape strategy and innovation.
  • Proficiency in Figma, with an ability to prototype at varying levels of fidelity.
  • Passion for designing inclusive, accessible, and customer-centric solutions that create positive outcomes.

What You’ll Do

Explore & Define Future Opportunities

  • Co-create a vision that the team and the Bank can rally behind.
  • Design and conduct discovery research with customers and work with specialists for more complex research mixed methods to uncover unmet, emerging, and latent customer needs.
  • Synthesise insights into customer archetypes, journeys, and opportunity spaces that inform new propositions and experiences.
  • Lead ideation and concept development, experimenting with new ideas to test desirability, viability, and feasibility.

Design Future Banking Experiences

  • Develop experience principles, interaction models, and service blueprints that define how customers engage with future products and services.
  • Create prototypes at an appropriate level of fidelity to test early resonance and appeal, and iterate and refine designs for delivery.

Influence Strategy & Innovation

  • Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and subject matter experts to shape strategies and bring design-led thinking into the organisation.
  • Advocate for human- centred, inclusive design practice in shaping CommBank’s next-generation customer experiences.
  • Work with business leaders to develop strategic roadmaps that align with long-term organisational priorities.
  • Mentor and guide a cross-functional team design thinking methodologies.
