The Business, Institutional and Markets Operations (BIMO) L1 Risk is a first line of defence function that provides comprehensive and integrated risk & compliance services to  support BIMO. The value proposition of the team is to provide skilled, practical, and efficient risk management to support BIMO to deliver excellent business and customer outcomes. Our team provides effective business and customer outcomes through the following risk services:

  • Implementation and adherence to the Operational and Compliance Risk Management Framework.

  • Specialist advice, consultation, and services to support the business in identifying, monitoring, and managing its respective risks and controls.

  • Build and embedment of strong risk capability and culture across BIMO.

  • Risk governance and reporting.

  • Change management risk assessments in support of project and transformation activities across BIMO.

  • Supplier risk assessment and governance.

Do work those matters:

As a Manager - Risk and Control Enablement, you will report to the Senior Manager, Risk and Control Enablement, and support the CommSec Operations business. You will build and manage productive relationships with:

  • Business Banking and Market Operations

  • CommSec Product teams

  • Operational Risk and Compliance Line 2

  • Chief Operations Office (the broader team that BIMO is a part of)

  • Chief Controls Office Centres of Excellence

Key responsibilities:

  • Support CommSec Operations in implementing and adhering to the Operational Risk and Compliance Management Framework.

  • Design and implement controls to enable better risk and compliance outcomes.

  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis of issues and incidents and assist in identifying and implementing rectification and remediation actions.

  • Conduct operational risk training programs to increase risk awareness and culture.

  • Collaborate with Line 2 and 3 to support reviews and audits.

  • Support business stakeholders in improving and automating processes and assist in change management risk assessments.

  • Report on operational risk and control profiles, issues, incidents, and other matters as required.

  • Engage with various parts of CommSec and the wider Group, assisting in completing necessary reviews.

We’re interested in hearing from people who have:

  • Sound experience in L1 risk advisory function.

  • Strong knowledge of Operational Risk and Compliance Management frameworks.

  • Experience in CommSec/CommSec Operations would be advantageous.

  • Ability to think critically and analytically and use data driven insights to solve problems.

  • Influencing and consulting skills, the ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proactive and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • An academic or a professional qualification in a related field that supports the performance of the position is preferrable.
