You’ll be in the Home Buying Manage & Own Crew, responsible for the in-life experience of our Home Loan customers,  building a brighter future for all by unlocking the dream of Home Ownership for all Australians, and providing them with the best experience. As a hands-on technology leader with full stack experience, you will be leading a team of engineers who will be designing & implementing solutions as well as influencing your Value streams tech leads, Product Owner & Crew Tech lead. Being product aligned and customer obsessed, you’ll own what you build (full cycle engineering model) and will be working in the latest technologies and frameworks (.Net Core, React, Angular, Azure, AWS, Containerisation with the potential for NodeJS/ NextJS & AI).We support our people with the flexibility to balance where work is done with at least half your time each month connecting in office. We also have many other flexible working options available including changing start and finish times, part-time arrangements and job share to name a few.

  • Are passionate technology leaders, still love being hands-on, designing, problem solving & taking ownership for Technology challenges from start to finish

  • Great mentor & people leader who can build a good community of engaged & curious engineers who find excitement in building amazing products for our customers  

  • Show experience in the full software development lifecycle using Agile practices, DevSecOps

  • Have expertise designing and building Core and Web API’s, web applications, running independent PoC’s

  • Are confident in their solution design capabilities, stakeholder engagement and leading technical conversations in group forums & can lead and nurture our engineers to do the same.

  • Show the ability to collaborate, present ideas, influence, and challenge stakeholders.

  • Actively are involved in continuous learning, experimentation, and innovation, ready to apply and promote industry best patterns and practices

Technical Skills

We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these will set you up for success in this team:

  • Experience in developing 3-tier application both on-premises and on cloud covering:

    • Frontend: React and Redux (Preferred) or Angular.

    • Backend: .NET Core (preferred), C# or Java.

    • Database: SQL and NoSQL experience (both admin and usage).

  • Infrastructure as Code preferably using CloudFormation, terraform experience will be well received.

  • Expertise in design and implementation of Microservices to deliver highly scalable APIs is essential.

  • Must have expertise in at least one scripting/programming language (i.e., JavaScript, TypeScript, Go, Python).

  • Extensive hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, TeamCity or Octopus.

  • Automated Quality Engineering and Testing (Unit Testing, Regression Testing).

  • Proficiency and strong attention to detail with Application Security.

  • Experience with Observability tools will be highly regarded.

Staff Engineers should ideally be confident with:

  • Configuration Management tooling.

  • Containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
