The focus of this role is to deliver a superior experience for converged core engineering lab users, aligning with Telstra Mobile Core network architecture and design standards. You will use your technical skills to deploy, manage, and develop Telstra’s Mobile test infrastructure, networks, and applications. Collaboration with teams across Telco Cloud, Mobile Core, subscriber management, and RAN network is essential to ensure a seamless experience that meets regulatory requirements and drives Telstra’s competitive advantage.

What you’ll do

Global Networks & Technology - Network Applications & Cloud is responsible for Telstra's network applications and cloud computing services.

  • Operate and manage platforms, test tools and applications in Telco Cloud, Mobile Core, subscriber management and RAN network with high availability including a focus on resiliency and security.

  • E2E ownership of service availability, Incident and change management, escalations, daily health, user notifications, managing embargos to support critical testing, demos and POCs.

  • Report incidents, service requests, capacity, utilization, weekly and monthly reports to TPOs.

  • Lead fault investigations in the minor and major outages of model Telco Cloud, Mobile Core, subscriber management and RAN network.

  • Conduct audits of Telco Cloud, Mobile Core, subscriber management and RAN elements and ensure Essential 8 compliance through the completion of required MOTs.

  • Assist TPO making technology investment and business asset decisions and assessments based on extensive knowledge of new and emerging technologies.

  • Support TPO to conceptualise and realise all aspects of design, development, and deployment of technology trials and PoCs.

  • Identify, implement, and promote best practice in knowledge management.

  • Treat co-workers with respect, free of discrimination, harassment, or victimisation.

  • Mentor, train, and assist in the professional development of all members of the team.

  • Coach and mentor other staff in the team on various aspects of the Mobile IP network and IP address management.

Continual personal and peer learning and development in all aspects of the technology and applications including detailed knowledge of:

  • Telco Cloud, Mobile Core, subscriber management and RAN domains, including functions, traffic types, security risks and mitigations for these risks.

  • Model testing equipment and tools such as SIM cards, RF tools, remote testing – STF, automation.

About you

Essential

  • Experience in design, deployment, operation and configuration of multi-vendor mobile voice, packet, and IP core environments

  • Good working knowledge of DevOps and Agile ways of working.

  • Urge to learn innovative technologies with effective oral and written communication skills.

  • At least 5+ years professional experience in managing complex network infrastructure and testing facilities.

  • Understanding of Linux.

  • Programming skills in Ansible and/or Python for the development of automation.

  • Able to manage competing priorities and to rationalise work selection decisions within the context of business priorities.

  • Willingness to work on-call or outside of normal hours for operational reasons.

  • Initiative-taking and willing to own and solve issues, ie Can-do attitude.

High desirable

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot in a highly challenging environment.

  • Experience with managing diverge network installation – hardware and software administration.

  • Understanding of virtualisation.

  • Experience in managing operational readiness and managing HSE compliance requirements.

  • Experience with Essential 8 security compliance.
