Th Retail Banking Services (RBS) Lending Line 1 Risk Centre of Excellence (COE) is a high-performing team supporting our business’ credit product offerings, helping our customers manage cash flows and make seamless and secure transactions. 

Do work that matters: As a Senior Manager, you will be a confident and trusted risk partner to your Consumer Finance (CF) stakeholders. You will proactively identify opportunities to reduce risk as well as assess and manage risks to the Domain that arise from changes, incidents, issues and control assessments.

You will work closely with stakeholders across RBS and the Group, build intimate knowledge of CF products, processes and objectives, and to ensure alignment with the Group's frameworks and standards.

On any given day, you will:

  • Pre-empt risks, gaps and opportunities and remove complexity to drive pragmatic solutions that ensure CF customers' experiences are delivered with efficiency and excellence.
  • Deliver pragmatic and well informed operational risks insights/advisory to aid strategic decision-making that delivers exceptional products and services.
  • Manage and advise on all elements of non-financial risk frameworks to ensure risks, obligations, issues, incidents, breach reporting, and risk, change assessments and control self-assessments are accurate, meet framework requirements and are of the highest quality to drive timely resolution, rectification, remediation and improvement to the risk profile.
  • Drive risk governance through leading risk scrum meetings with Crew Leads and Product Owners to ensure key risk items are prioritised.
  • Uphold ethical conduct and compliance by understanding relevant regulatory obligations and ensuring we take reasonable steps to deliver quality customer outcomes.
  • Lead a proactive risk and control culture, ensuring embedment with key project stakeholders and business representatives.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider risk team to deliver best practice risk advice across the business.
  • Establish performance metrics and reporting for Line 1 Risk and drive data quality in various systems (including RiskInSite and Jira) relevant to enable RBS-wide risk reporting.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve processes.
  • Guide, coach and lead other members of the team ensuring high quality outcomes.
  • Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of risk capabilities within the team and across the Domain.
  • Identify and drive reduction in inherent and residual risks across the Domain.

We’d love to hear from people who have:

  • A deep understanding and working experience in operational and compliance risks within financial services, including working knowledge of Consumer Finance or lending products.
  • Strong reasoning and influencing skills to work with, advise and challenge senior stakeholders.
  • Strong logical reasoning skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience coaching and developing junior team members.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and ability to articulate ideas clearly and effectively.
  • Strong ability to perform reviews of critical processes to identify what can go wrong, control gaps/weaknesses and/or optimisation opportunities.
  • Ability to analyse trends, identify critical threats and opportunities, diagnose problems and issues, and recommend appropriate actions.
  • Ability to independently deliver for large projects and initiatives in a fast-paced, shifting environment.
  • Willingness to lean in and build a high-performing team culture.
