Job Description:

Join the DXC team and contribute to bringing DXC’s claims management expertise to the people of New South Wales.

With over 20 years’ experience in workers compensation claims management, a unique opportunity exists to join a new DXC team. DXC are currently partnering with a reputable Government Health Organsiation, setting up their Wokers' Compensation Department and would love you to join the team as an Eligibility Officer.

The Eligibility Officer will be required to determine liability of claims, and transition claims to appropriate Case Managers for ongoing management. The role will also calculate PIAWE, advise Dispute Resolutions Managers on the rationale for original decisions and identify the recovery potential of claims.

Key elements to this role include

  • Review and evaluate workers' compensation claims to ensure they meet eligibility requirements under state and federal laws.
  • Collect, verify, and maintain all necessary documentation related to claims, including medical reports, employment records, and incident details.
  • Analyze claims to ensure compliance with relevant regulations, identify any discrepancies, and recommend appropriate course of action.
  • Communicate with injured employees, medical providers, and insurance carriers to gather additional information and ensure timely processing of claims.
  • Provide guidance and assistance to claimants regarding their rights, benefits, and the claims process. Respond to inquiries in a clear, professional, and timely manner.
  • Ensure all claims are processed in accordance with workers' compensation laws, company policies, and insurance guidelines. Keep up to date with changes in regulations that may affect claims eligibility.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports related to claim eligibility status, denials, and approvals.
  • Work with legal, medical, and insurance teams to resolve complex cases and disputes. Participate in meetings and provide recommendations on case management.
  • Provide training and support to other team members as needed regarding workers' compensation eligibility procedures and best practices.

To be successful

  • Strong working knowledge of the NSW Workers Compensation Act 1987 and associated Regulations and/or a Legal Qualification 
  • Two years or more experience in initial claims assessment (Case Manager), or one year or more in a paralegal or legal assistant position 
  • Being flexible and can adapt to change 
  • Ability to interpret and implement decision according to the rules and regulations
  • Strong stakeholder management skills including negotiation and influencing skills with both internal and external customers.
  • Strong time management skills
  • Computer skills - Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
